Please answer to my questions.
How I can have MOT in May if my car pass on next week?
Do I need to bring the 12 months valid certificate or do I need to get a new MOT certificate to get MOT in May?
They might not let me to have MOT in May with the 12 months valid certificate which the early MOT I could have is in November?
Sorry for the confused, but I have never dealt with this issue before.0 -
i've already answered it
you book it in for an MOT. then you take it down.
Just because you've never done it before doesn't mean you're going to get different answers0 -
Take it for an MOT in May the same as you have done now. The new MOT will run for 12 months...
Wasting 6 months MOT. Why not put the MOT money away in May and MOT it when its due and pay with that money?
Wasting 6 months MOT is not MSE.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

get the MOT before expiry because you are required by law to have valid MOT on your vehicle. Then retake an MOT in May which will assign you a new anniversary for MOT from then on.0 -

Thanks for your advise. I am not wasting 6 months MOT, but I want to change the date to get out of the way from December due to bad weather conditions and the near time before christmas. It will cost me alot of money which I will find it difficult to manage it.
I need the car to go out and drive with valid MOT and tax. I'd find it difficult to go out if I sorn for 6 months with no MOT. I will have no one to help me out, that's why I need the car to go out.
If I get the MOT in May, the same time in spring, it will be alot of easier for me as I would have no worries about the weather, christmas...etc.
Now you understand why I want to change it?0 -

If you want it done early, book it in and take it down.
We often do this with fleet disposal vehicles; everything is sold HPI clear, accident free (unless stated it's been smashed and repaired), 6 months tax and with a full MoT.
A few weeks ago, I personally took a car with a March MoT ('09' plate) to have a test done, and was issued with a certificate valid for a year + 30 days, as it had hit the mileage we change the cars (150k miles).

But you will be wasting 6 months MOT. You cannot use it with no MOT so you need to do that now anyway. Then your going to take it again in May when you still have 6 months left.
When it passes you will have lost that 6 months, The new MOT will run from May to May then.
Not sure why the weather affects your MOT date.
You should see what i have to pay over the xmas period. Tax, Insurances, Clubs i belong to also. All want paying Nov/Dec/Jan/Feb.
Well over 1/2 of my yearly outgoings are in those 4 months.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

These few months are also my most expensive for various reasons, but it has to be budgeted for during the year.
Why anyone would want to waste 6 months test is beyond me, but there we are.
