I think you need to double check exactly what you will be paying Sky. The best deal I've seen for new customers is a half price basic subscription (with no discount for movies or sport) for six months.
Not to worry. I have the confirmation stuff to prove this. My brother has had free standard broadband and free tv entertainment extra + since July. I have the same but I chose Fibre Broadband so am paying 6 months half price for that. It was part of Sky giving this offer to previous O2 Broadband customers, which is not available anymore, but my order was placed long ago with installation in NovemberSave money, get the things you want! How many Skyboxes are you having? That gum you like is coming back in style.0

How many Skyboxes are you having?
1 which is part of the subscription and will be in the main lounge.
2 others without subscription which are just Sky boxes that need to be connected to the satellite socket.
Rest of rooms possibly freeview and the house is hopefully future proof.Save money, get the things you want! Blow it all, regret it!0 -

Hah! From Sky, no way. I have another property which we will be moving out from. So will just connect those up. If I need extra Sky boxes, i'll just eBay it lol. Wont be using record feature in bedrooms just on the subscribed box, so no worries there.
The installer will be installing my freeview aerial. Only thing he doesn't do is the Sky dish. So thats been cleared up
Thanks for your help people!:rotfl:Save money, get the things you want! Blow it all, regret it!0 -
You say you have have 3 coaxial cables - two for satellite and one for TV?
Any of those cables can carry both satellite (LNB) and TV (UHF) signals simultaneously. All that's needed is a diplexer each end. So you could have 3 SAT points and up to 3 UHF points in total.0 -
3 boxes, quad LNB at dish, one box records. This is simple enough and no 'distribution box' is needed. When the Sky installer comes out, a standard install is for 2 feeds to your Sky+ box. These feeds are already there so his job has got easier.
If you can bribe him with your finest coffee and biccies, you might be able to get him to run the 2 extra leads from the quad LNB he's installing, into the roofspace. Then you can extend these leads down into each bedroom, and plug the Sky boxes in yourself. Does that sound doable, and cheaper?0 -

Thanks for your response.
Chocolate digestives or hobnobs lol? Nah I wouldnt need to bribe them. Just double checked the cables going to the roof. Its actually 4 satellite cabled (2 doubles) So therefore a quad LNB will need to be fitted. And Yes I have made his job easy. All he needs to do is connect the dish, put on the F/M connectors at the ends of the cable, activate the box and go! No cables need to be run and no time for tea. I will need a disribution unit as each room (10 rooms) all have a twin satellite feed and 1 aerial feed. Those that wont be used, I will just disconnect off the distributor to save energy or something until needed. :rotfl:Save money, get the things you want! Blow it all, regret it!0 -

Are you and your family so TV mad that EVERY room needs to be capable of receiving signals from both satellite and aerial?0 -

Haha! Not TV mad but it's an addition that everyone prefers. At the moment our small 4 bedroom flat in London has a tv in every room. It's also making my home future proof. I don't like messy cables on skirting boards so I got it done while I was doing a complete renovation. Also for what I'm paying it sort of came as part of the package. A family friend is installing it. We are getting a home security alarm system, CCTV system, CAT6 networking to all rooms and aerial and satellite to each room. This included installation and parts needed such as distribution unit, network switch, wall plates etc. For the rooms that won't be using a TV I will just unhook the cable from the unit and hope it will be used some time in the future.
