Toots... Sorry to hear about your problems... BUT...

I'm typing this sitting in our Planet installed Conservatory and they did a great job:T

Work was all done to agreed dates with no problems. They even went out of their way when we made a couple of changes, they really couldn't be more helpful.

Earlier this year when we had a problem (2 years after install) they were onsite within 24 hours to deal with the problem.

We had a planet conservatory put in nearly 3 years ago - by Planet Leeds (apparently a franchise although we did not know that at the time). We phoned Planet up about 2 months ago to ask if they could repair the roof. We had a slate come down and put a hole through part of the roof. They put the conservatory in, we would have preferred them to come back and replace the part of the roof. We were told quite rudely that Planet Leeds was a franchise, it had nothing to do with the main planet conservatories, they were put into adminstration and no guarantees were being honoured, they wanted absolutely nothing to do with it and basically please do not ring us again. They then sent us a letter reiterating this and once again stating that any repairs, faulty workmanship etc was nothing at all to do with them and the guarantee that we had with Planet Leeds was null and void.

We wasn't actually claiming under the guarantee, we had already agreed with our insurance firm the costs of the repair and just wanted some continuity of service but after the phone call and then the letter, I would like to warn other clients/potential clients of Planet Conservatories the usual warning "let the buyer beware"

    Hi all

We had a Planet Conservatory put in about 1 yr ago and found them to be excellent. This was in the North West of England, so I don't know if different regions might not be the same, but we had another company doing our windows the weeks before and they were awful, shoddy workmanship, no communication and generally very unprofessional. Every aspect of Planet was professional and detailed from receiving a breakdown of each day and who is going to turn up to the actual people who came out who were all really courteous, helpful and very hard working. I wished I used Planet to do our Windows as well I was so impressed. If anyone wants further info, please let me know, but I for one recommend them (in the North West anyways!)

golly99 - maybe you've been okay because you are in the same area as the Head office and they can't afford adverse publicity locally. Make sure you don't lose your guarantee though as they are highly unlikely to be in business for the 10 year period.
They have gone bust a number of times and set up again straight away with slightly different names. Totally unethical - unfortunately totally legal.

Our Conservatory was installed my them last year and everything was done on time and to schedule. We had problems with the plasterer and had to insist it was all redone - even a non-expert like me could tell that it wasn't right as there were cracks all over it. We've had raining in problems as well but that was eventually resolved through trial and error (and a surveyor noticing that something hadn't been sealed properly even though countless other people had been up to look!).

We were wary about them as well given the "going bust" issues but were led to believe the franchises weren't profitable and couldn't be controlled properly and were ultimately damaging the companies reputation. That said they were reasonably priced and much cheaper than the other company that was in the running (the third company was much to cheap so we avoided them - wisely so as they went bust within 3 months of giving us the quote).

We can obviously only go by our own experiences but they have been fine with us. Again we are in the northwest. Similarly though, someone else I know has gone with them and have been really disatisfied as they didn't stick to any of their timeframes and took about 6 months to get it installed - again, this was in the northwest. Looks like you have to be lucky with your team that you are allocated.

Incidentally, we didn't go with them when we had a porch fit this year as there was something we didn't like about the salesman and no amount of good experience will persuade me to part with a lot of money if I don't like the person I'm dealing with!

  • We used them once, they made the glass and the frames a different size, fiited the frames then realised the glass was too small, so had extra ventilation for a few days while they remade them. Would I recommend them, well we haven't used them again!
  • Is'nt Easyfit the renamed company of Taylormade Conservatories that went BUST. Seems strange recommending them if they use the same installers that cocked up your installation.

I read Anglian Conservatories, Windows & Doors are opening up in the West Midlands area - suggest people try these. Big company, quality products and have never gone BUST.
