Daily Mags - what is happening?

I honestly don't see the benefit of linking back to the main thread from the mags thread at all but I have no problem with it being there if people want it as long as the direct link is there as well. It just may be wasted effort for Jambo if nobody uses it.

so if say me or jambo or whoever find the new comps posted on the mag site,
we put them on main board as requested & then when linking to the thread for them add the direct link in with the answer as I've done above on the
example one,
then jambo can copy/paste all or just the relevant one needed for the listings,
think that would be an ideal way of doing them & hopefully would please everyone,

I am an end dated and have no problem using the mags thread and skipping the threads on the board when I get to them. It's sometimes quite nice to find some on the main board I can skip when trying to catch up!

Ok I'm saying I would prefer it this way, and I have no doubt I'm not the only one that would as there are so many people on here, and very few have actually joined in this debate. But then again maybe people don't think there's any point in posting their opinion, when it feels like it has to be done one way or the other and people are so insistent about the direct links?

What is the harm, bearing in mind we could all help JDP out to adapt the thread to have both links, in having them both in there for people to make their own minds up how to use them rather than being told we must do something one way and to like it or lump it?

I have no problem having links to the main board thread as well as a direct link to the comp.

I don't understand why you need them and was just trying to save posters some wasted effort, but if they are of use that's fine.

LOL - sos I missed the point there (and then a friend came round just as I posted.) I think get what you're saying now, and if I do, then I mainly agree. I also cannot see a reason why a link to the dailies shouldn't go straight to the comp, rather than to the post on the main board. That's what you're saying, right?

However, I still say that we now need to allow time for the next step to happen. It might look like the recent changes happened suddenly. I think that's unlikely. It's probably been debated and discussed for a while. I'm sure it wasn't done on a whim.

I assume that all of this is being reviewed. So as long as we believe our points have been heard, perhaps we should allow time for the powers to discuss, decide and then work their magic.

What I'm saying is that it's not reasonable to say, can we have it back the way it was, and expect that to happen quickly. If it doesn't happen quickly, there is probably a reason, and I doubt the reason is that it's being ignored.

Did I get there in the end?

I am sure you are right about things being reviewed. It seems to me, though, that losing the direct links happened as an accidental consequence of putting the msg dailies back on the main board. Restoring them hurts nobody if we keep the links to threads as well. If it was an accident I would hope it can be corrected pretty quickly using the solution set out by Firefly this afternoon.

In [2] you never use the index at the front of the mag daily thread, but only the posts added at the end of the mag daily thread in order to go to the main board thread to cross it or tick it and make a bookmark?

In which case the mag daily thread doesn't need an index at the front as nobody uses it, and the other posts in it might as well just say https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4831566 (with no other details) as end daters have always got to go to the main board thread in any case to cross/tick+bookmark it.
