Daily Mags - what is happening?

When the magazine thread was like this before I used to open the competition page bookmark that page and put the name of the bookmark as the answer then copy and paste the thread title as well. am sure there is but it's nice to be able sometimes if I can to post them for the peeps on here before they're posted/copied onto other comp sites,
lots of ways round entering other comps as well posted on here if we all don't want to enter from mse or the peeps that post them on here

The reason why standard dailies (and also advents & weeklies) link to the comp post on the main board and not directly to the comp is because they can have a different question/answer (and even a different link) each day/week.

The magazine dailies always have the same answer and same link so there is no reason why the links in the index shouldn't go directly to the comp. It is MUCH more efficient and really there is no point going via the comp post on the main board as there is no new information there and you can't thank the poster a second time. The mag daily thread evolved to reach this tremendously efficient method over time.

The mag daily system also went one step further in its "efficiency drive" in that the comps ceased to be posted on the main board. This step was dropped and the comp was only posted at the end of the mag daily thread with the answer in order for the index at the front to be updated. This saved the comp posters a LOT of time, but meant that some people could miss out if they only ever looked at the main board.

For what it's worth, I think that:-
a) the comps should be posted on the main board to cater for those who would otherwise miss them.
b) the mag daily thread should run exactly as it did up to last week with the first few posts containing answers and linking directly to the comps.

Why should the mags daily/rafflecopters ect be posted on the main boards?

As I have said twice now if folks wanted to do those comps then all they have to do is click the specific link for them, if folks don't do them then that is their choice.

Is it not making lots of extra work for all the lovelies that post these comps having to post them in their own specific thread then again on the main board?

This forum is red hot on dupes and having them merged, if the same comps are posted in two different places then surely we are going to have 100s of dupes!!

If you look just at this one painful thread, you will see that people comp here in many and varied ways. MSE is pretty fab at trying to accommodate our various ways and help us where they can. However, if all comps are posted on the main board, it means that everyone, from hardened pro compers to brand new baby ones, can be confident that they will find every comp posted in one place. Doesn't mean we can't have extras, like stickies, regulars, etc. These are useful comping aids. But having every comp posted on one main board means that nobody can complain that they missed a comp because it was posted in a different place.

That's my understanding anyway.

Well then my next suggestion would be to have no comps at all on the main board just a list of what is available, so folks could look at the list and click the link to visit which ever specific set of comps they would like to do.

Would that work?

Because there is absolutely no reason at all not to change back to direct links immediately - many are asking for it, no one is objecting and it will save lots of us lots of time in December when we need it most.

It is very difficult to accept being told that this is not the time to make changes when changes have just been made in response to others and all that is required is for one change that was not asked for by anybody to be reversed.

I don't want an argument I just wanted to ask if it's possible for the people who are posting the daily mag comps on the main board to try and highlight that it's a daily mag comp within the title.
I keep opening threads that are daily mag comps because it's not obvious from the title. I don't enter them, I'm sure there are many others who don't bother with them also.
