mytyres.co.uk won't take my money!

Probably an automatic refund because of no stock available.
You might be right, but then why are they still asking for the money by direct bank transfer?
I've just phoned them up and they am now waiting for someone from their finance department to get back to me.
The one thing I vaguely wonder if is causing an issue is that I'm getting to their site via TopCashback.0 -

Everything about that rings alarm bells to me - A UK company that turns out to be just a front end for an overseas firm, demands insecure payment and no reliable contact.
Find another genuine supplier would be my suggestion!
They've always been foreign. A .co.uk address doesn't mean a UK firm just a UK sales focus.
I haven't touched Mytyres for years after they took my cash and never sent the tyres.
I ended up having to do a chargeback on them thanks to the terrible service.
In summary - it is my faultWhat if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -

Apologies OP, I forgot about them asking for alternative payment. It is probably because you are paying by Amex, a surprisingly large amount of discount suppliers either don't use AE at all or try to get customers to use, cheaper to them, payment systems.0

ThanksAt least you got your money back! Makes me glad I didn't even consider the direct bank transfer they've asked for, twice. Your experience is the first bad one I've heard but I'll bear it in mind. Not heard back from them yet but I'll do a bit more looking for alternatives tomorrow if I get time.
My first payment was Amex and the second Mastercard, but I've never had an issue like this elsewhere. Taking money is something even the most incompetent companies can normally manage!0 -
To be honest I've used MyTyres quite a bit- the local tyre supplier recommends them and you can get them shipped to him. I've paid by card and I've never had any issues.0

Hi ultrasonic
Many online ecommerce systems do automatic fraud checks on each order. It could be that your orders are failing the fraud screening.
i.e. they are concerned that you will supply the wheels, and then you will do a chargeback; claim the card was stolen etc.
At a guess, your orders might be failing the fraud screening because:
- the order is above a certain value
- you're in a high risk postcode
- your address is on a fraud database
- you have previously 'upset' the company in some way
Or a combination of the above. So they want you to pay by an irreversible method.
It'll be interesting to know what their explanation is.0 -
I bought some winters from them a couple of weeks ago. Took a week to arrive but they're cheap, like the budgie. Had no problems with paypal.0
