Its been a really bad year for me comping wise, whether this is because there are more people comping or more twitter and f/b comps (which I dont tend to do often) or whether I am just not so lucky this year I dont know but I shall stick with it. Only you can decide whats best for you but your next win may be just around the corner, hope so.

It's difficult not to get disheartened, did you have a good run of wins? That's when I find I get disheartened.

I've kept a list of all my wins and look back through those, that spurs me on. I thought I was going through a dry spell and stopped checking my emails.

Then on Friday I won £100 m&s vouchers, 2 cushelle koalas and yesterday a £100 marine tank. The marine tank was a comp that ended in September, so you never know what wins may be coming your way. If I were you I would persevere for a little while, it's a cliche but you do have to be in it to win it :)

Really hope something lovely is coming your way

    Started comping again Sept 2013
    Best wins: Currys wishlist, 3 Laptop's, a PS4 and an Espresso machine • fridge freezer • £100 M&S vouchers
46 wins totalling approx £3000 since September 2013
.•* Thank you to everyone that posts competitions*•.

  • It is disheartening - not a very good year here either but hey the Advents start soon - got to have a go at those!

Hang in there and I hope your luck changes soon:)
  • Fingers crossed it picks up! As said Above, advents soon. Probably a better chance on those x
    Started comping April 2013 :)
  • For me comping is a small hobby, when I have time I do it, as a working mum I cant stick to it religiously - anything I win is a bonus, yes I do jokingly say I havent won for ages but if it was seriously getting to me to those type of extremes I think I would need to find something else to do xx

I'd agree with this. I went through a phase recently where I won 3 prizes in 3 days and it was great- one of which was a laptop. I haven't won anything since then but I realise how lucky I am to have won those prizes. If it got to the point it was upsetting me, I would stop :o.
  • I've had a dry spell for about a month and a half now but you have to take the lows with the highs. Overall it's been a good year for me and I know the dry spell will end sometime.:)

Top wins - Florida holiday, North Carolina holiday, Sky TV for a year, wine for a year

Thanks to all who post and good luck to everyone!!:rotfl:

Sometimes I will get frustrated but it's more about wanting to enter/go through all of the new posts and feeling a bit chained to it, so it's a chore rather than a hobby. I've never got upset though.

Perhaps take a look at why you comp. If winning is some sort of validation of your own self-worth then I can see how not winning could feel like a rejection and cause upset. Maybe something like that is going on with you?

With comping, wins are just random. There's no equation with effort = reward. So if a person is a high achiever or in need of validation then they're going to be disappointed. No matter how 'good' you are, you're not going to get rewarded except by chance.
Thank you to everyone who posts on the competitions boards. You all rock!

It's just one of those things, I'm afraid. I've been doing this for nearly two years and haven't won a thing. But like others have said, you have to be in it to win it - it's all the luck of the draw!
