Welcome Jacks mummy!
congratulations hester !! how lovely
sistercas they gorgeous
icey hope frogs feeling better soon
Jacks mummy hope ds is feeling better soon.
We were the same this year with OH's birthday.not sure if this is any good for you, but our children made him a card each, helped me make a lemon curd cake, with custard, placed candles on top and sang happy birthday. He loved the card and the little poems and was chuffed to bits and still says with pride how much it meant to him.
We also made a special dinner with mustard on toast, pasta and cheese sauce and then the lemon curd cake. After that we played a board game and watched a film together, think it was Thor, can't remember.
Just remember try to not get stressed, take a deep breath and think how lovely it would be to spend time together as a family, no stress, no talk of work, money etc. Just that special celebration. I know were silly
sorry to hear about the funeral dumpling
I'm dreading going out in a bit, have to be at ds1's school for 10:15am brrr not looking forward to it0 -
Morning all,
just lost a long post into the ether, grrr, so waves and smiles all round instead.
MIA yesterday as all I want to do is hibernate but I have to mark these exam papers..... I feel like this every time I reach midpoint, and forget all about it again when I finish and get paid.
Oh well, grindstone is yelling at me so back to it.I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
Morning all
Good to see some old faces and new! I don't show my face for months and when I do I'm after a favour...
Does anyone fancy a free read? I need test readers for a novel that's due for release on the 1st December so its a tight turnaround - 5 days to read and do a review on it (no essays needed, just what you liked (hopefully!) or not and any (favourable!) quotes may be used in the press release or even on the book cover.
It will be an ebook format (pdf, ibooks or indle format) and it's still to be proof read but if you would like to volunteer please send your email address and required format (if kindle include your device address). We need at least ten people - men are particularly welcome too.
I've a post on facebook for those of you there or email - info AT Write Path NI DOT com - take out the spaces and ...well you know the rest.
Hope all is well, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year....and have a good Easter..just in case)

Morning all,
Wet and cold today. Not nice at all.
HH - Congrats. Twins how lovely
Sistercas - Love the decs.
Luxor - Do you have to be a teacher to mark exam papers or just incredibly bright?
Midway through cleaning the house, it's so easy to get sidetracked. The laptop just sits there calling to me.
DH made cottage pie for dinner last night and I had the leftovers for breakfast so I'll have my porridge for lunch. Found some chicken kievs in the freezer so the blokes will have them for tea tonight and I'll probably have fishfingers.
Suspect it may be wet play at work today
Have a good day all0 -
Morning all,
not sure what i'm doing today as its bucketing down with rain and so very cold. I'm going to tackle the storage under the bed I think and of course, being Wednesday ive got loads of bedding to launder but apart from that I think the internet has got me for most of the day.
Lovely decorations Sistercas. They have come out really well.
Daughter number 2 has a hospital appointment on Tuesday. She has several moles that have appeared and the doctor wants to test them for skin cancer. Why do kids never listen? I warned her of the dangers of sunbeds and she's been using them for 10 years (but not whilst she was pregnant) but apart from physically restraining her theres nothing I could do to protect her.
Anyway, I will not worry, I will not worry.

Thank you so much Kezlou for your lovely reply to me, it has given me a good few ideas, after reading it I've nipped off and made him some fudge, which will be gift wrapped when cooled, the cake is cooking in the oven as I speak, DS and me will will be spending the afternoon making cards and a few crafty things for him... The housework can wait!, also going to do a lamb dinner (another one of dh's favourites) then I'll open a bottle of hm wine when ds has gone off to bed.
Thanks again... You've made me realise you don't need money to make someone feel special and loved on their birthday xxG.C July £21.09/£1000 -
Hi everyone,
Hester, congratulations - I hope DD hasn't had too much of a shock, I remember when a dr told me he thought DS was twins, I had nightmares (DD was a livewire to say the least and I was worried that twins on top would be too much).
Sistercas, love the decs.
NAR, thank you for youe suggestion. I read up on the symptoms and it does seem a distinct possibility, especially as it said that it was often linked to an underactive thyroid, which I have had for nearly 30 years. I just have to decide now whether or not to go to the dr and go through lots of tests again.
I must go and put the pork to slow cook. I'm doing a recipe from Economy Gastronomy - Pork, Broccoli and Taleggio lasagne (except I use cheap brie, not taleggio). It's supposed to be made using left over pork shoulder but my family love it so much I just cook a large joint and use nearly all of it to make the lasagnes.
Mum is still in hospital, but she is a lot better and hoping to be out soon.0 -
Morning (((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))) its a yukky morning here we have just had a heavy hail shower, sky is very grey looks heavy with something nasty.
Still tired but OH is now walking without crutches and doing 'his bit' again. I have really lost my get up and go, it got up and went. One good thing I am sleeping as lot better, wonder how long that will last???
I did mince and dough balls last night, so maybe will do last nights menu for tonight macaroni cheese, jacket spuds and a side salad. Need to find a dessert may be bananas chopped into a chocolate delight.
I really do need to sort myself out, I have a very expensive sewing machine sitting upstairs doing nothing and a stash of fabric I am ashamed of.......fabric I bought in the US in 2003 still waiting to be made into something. I also have several UFO's to tackle........Think I should set my sights on doing a stall at the Victorian Market Christmas 2014.....0 -
Afternoon All,
Strong north-westerly blowing here today, combined with wintry showers, so definitely a day for staying indoors - sent the wife out downtown instead!
JackieO - well done on your 3rd in quiz. So silly people taking this things so serious, as if their lives depended on it!
Snoozer - I think the worst is not knowing what is wrong. Hopefully you get diagnosed soon.
Have a good day everyone :beer:0 -
.Our team came thrird last night at the pub quiz and we do have such a good laugh at how folk take it so seriously at times. To us its just an inexpensive night out with a bunch of friends. But folk can get quite worked up over a point or two

Oh boy, that sounds like a mad household - I'd be tempted to switch off my hearing aid if it was me!:rotfl: Have you tried asking the cats to form an orderly queue?:rotfl:If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0
