This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good morning everyone
The weather people were correct and it's really chilly here today, Winter definitely seems to be here.
Hello and welcome to Jacksmummy
Congratulations to Hester on the lovely news about the twins
I don't seem to be able to add "smilies", or at least they are not visible. No doubt they are doing something to the site again.
Better get in the shower and get a move on.
Well wishes to all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well, warm and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Morning all
Flying visit for me as I'm off to work .
It's wet and windy and dark
Been making some little decorations for the tree and tags for presents, I found a template in a magazine to make a star and although it's fiddly , they come out really well, I'll try and put a pic up
HHcongrats :j:j twins -fab x
Have a good day xx0 -
Good Morning all,and a brisk and chilly one it is this morning.Beautiful moon last night ,very large and orange over north Kent,my DGS were facinated. Our team came thrird last night at the pub quiz and we do have such a good laugh at how folk take it so seriously at times. To us its just an inexpensive night out with a bunch of friends. But folk can get quite worked up over a point or two
:):)I spend £2.00 on the quiz which includes a nice supper and a £1.00 on a lime and soda (I drive there) so to me its nice to have a bit of fun for £3.00,cheaper than the movies:):)
Today I am off to Dartford this afternoon to see Blood brothers with my DD as her treat.I may pop in to the garage and see if they can fix the plastic bit underneath my bumper which keeps falling down.I have a Vauxhall Zafira and its the second one I have had and it has the same fault Underneath the bumper is a small plastic bar which is perfectly useless and does nothing but irritate the life out of me as if you go over a bump in the road it just droops down to almost the groud as its only a plastic peg that holds it up and the peg falls off and the DGS spend time having to stick some masking tape on it to hold it up.So Vauxhall will get a bit of an earful today and I shall tell them its a daft place to stick a bit of plastic.I spoke to the salesman yesterday and he assured me it won't cost me anything, just as well if he wants me to replace my car next year with another Vauxhall:):)He blithely told me yesterday
"Oh yes, lots of people have the same problem with the under spolier" (thats what its called apparently) Grrr why do they keep putting the blooming thing back on then I wonder .
Oh well rant over I'm off to have my warming bowl of porridge before I brave the weather for the school run
congrats to Granny -to-be-of-twins Hester
My best friends DD had twins in September and they are gorgeous and we get to cuddle one each when we go to visit.
Cheers chums have a good day

Morning All
What a wild night! The wind was blowing and the rain was lashing, woke me up a couple of times.
Lovely decorations sistercas. Can't say I am particularly interested in Christmas this year, would just like to move house! Can't get past that.
Salad for lunch today, DD will have left over pasta bolognaise. WM and DW will go on when we have been in the showers. LO roast chicken tonight, probably stir fried. Bought some curly Kale at the weekend and it is really nice, never tried it before.
Hope everyone's well, take care. XX0 -
I'm back!!
I was MIA yesterday as Frog had a morning session at nursery so I took the opportunity to chop down a hedge in our back garden that had grown so wild and bending over it was taking up 3sq m of the garden.
A hedge trimmer and a mini chainsaw later it's in a hippo bag awaiting transportation to the dump
I was shattered afterwards though and also Frog seems a little under the weather and is grumpy as anything
Today she seems a little brighter though so we go may be on the up. Today we are going to Homebase to buy a couple of new hippo bags, the one mentioned above is split and I doubt it will make it back from the dump in one piece. This afternoon we may meet up with another of the NCT mums and daughter, depending on how frog is.
Dinner is stew with new potatoes and peas for DH, he's on 6pm-2am shifts all week so needs dinner that is microwaveable. Not sure what I'm going to have yet.
Hope you all have a great day, keep warm it's chilly out there!
Ps - HH, wonderful news congratulations :TWhether you think you can or you can’t, you’re probably right ~ Henry Ford0 -
Morning everyone
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Dull, damp and dreich, the cars have frost on them and now it's raining - not a nice start to the day at all.
DH up and gone to work.
Dinner last night was egg, bacon, beans and chips for the menfolk, and I had a mushroom omelette and salad. Tonight we will be having beef casserole, that I have already put into the slo cooker, so I'll won't have too much to do later - other than prep the veg and make the dumplings.
Work yesterday wasn't very busy either, but it wasn't too cold in the morning and then got progressively colder as the day went on and the customers that did come in all looked frozen. Am working at the other office today so will be nice to catch up with colleagues I don't see very often. Hoping 1 of my friends who I was really good friends with may be there for a catch up. Did a couple of jobs on the pc last night as soon as I got in from work so that job is done, this afternoon when I get in from work I have a few more to do. I'm only working until lunchtime today, I'll be on day's off until Monday - when it all starts again! Really need to get some washing, drying and ironing done as have done very little this week, basket is getting full.
Keep safe and well x

Need to do a wash tonight and ask everyone to take there piles of washing up, its taking over my desk !
Congrats to Granny hester x
have good days all xx0 -
Good morning all.
Very cold and frosty here this morning, even the chickens are refusing to come out the coop this morning, feel so sorry for the gals cos they are going through a moult at the mo so I'm so worried they are feeling the cold, I did mention to DH last night about knitting a few jumpers for them, the hysterical laughter that followed made me think he might have thought I was joking
Many thanks for the welcome Time to face the music
I like the decorations Sistercas.
Not a lot happening here today cos Ds is still poorly with a cold, bless him, so a day in home for me which means I can get on with some more decluttering, I want to make a start on the pantry, also got some bits in the fridge I want to use up so I thought I'd get some pizzas made for the freezer, a lamb stew.
Its DH's birthday today, so I'm going to make him a cake for when he gets back this eve, only a victoria sandwich its one of he's favs so he'll be happy..... I feel so guilty cos I've not managed to buy him a gift, times have been so hard for us just lately that we really couldn't afford it, I know he understands and I'm sure he doesn't mind but I cannot help feeling bad especially with it being the first time in 18 yrs I've not bought him anything
Anyway I'm off to get the WM on, and make another brew.
Hope you all have a lovely day xG.C July £21.09/£1000 -
Good morning everyone :j
First of all, congratulations to Granny HH. Wow, twins, that will be fun, better get those knitting needles clacking.
Well it's very cold here but at least it's stopped raining. My DD's have actually put coats on this morning to go to school. Hardly any of the kids I see walking to school wear coats even in the rain. What's that about, they must be sitting around all day in their wet clothes, Brrrr!
I'm planning a day just resting and trying to catch up on some sleep. I have been quite a busy bee for the past little while and I've just run out of oomph. I had a very tearful day yesterday not helped by attending a funeral of one of our lovely older ladies in church. She was diagnosed with cancer in September and mercifully she slipped away without suffering too much a week ago but of course she will be very much missed.
I'm planning to make cottage pie for tea so have just extracted the beef from the bottom of the freezer. Not being the tallest person I have to dangle over the edge of the freezer and hope I don't fall in :rotfl::rotfl:I feel hungry all the time, I think it's because I am so tired and I just need the boost of energy that eating gives. I have fallen far from the path of Weightwatchers but I will get back on it this week. I wish I liked fruit more, I think it's a hangover from when I was growing up and we only had fruit if we were ill.
Hope everyone manages to have a nice day, it's 'hump day' so there's a downward slide to the weekend now. The weeks are going past so fast, I can't keep up. Take care and as always, gentle hugs for all who would like one.
Cheers m'dears x0 -
Morning,
I went AWOL yesterday, not sure where though. Finally got back to cooking and made cottage pieI also sorted my food shop, and MIL helped get on top of the ironing, and I sorted the last of the girls clothes for The baby.
Daisy is only waking once at night, she feeds well and goes 4 hours either side of her 2am feedso I'm getting 6hrs sleep and feel great. She has her 5 day check today, and FIL is visiting this afternoon.
My monthly food deliveries come tonight, so dinner is cottage pie toasties
I hope everyone has a great day xWe spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy! Mortgage Free Wannabe :dance:Overpayments Made: £5400 - Interest Saved: £11,550 - Months Saved: 240
