CCS review - stop the scam

If you used a credit card you should make a claim under sec 75 of the Consumer Credit Act on the basis that they are not authorized to offer the services they purport to provide.
The Financial Conduct Authority published a warning about them earlier this week http://www.fca.org.uk/news/warnings/credit-clear-services-ltd0 -
Thanks to MSE as while i was on a call with "The Full Financial Review" and it got to the crunch time of them asking for credit card details to make an upfront payment, i did a quick google search as it all sounded too good to be true and found this thread.
A subsequent search on the Ministry of Justice website found that while they are an approved business - they got me to click on the justice gov links at the bottom right of their website to see that they are a bonafide company - you need to click on the company name "Creit Clear Services Ltd" to actually see that they are "under review" hence my mind being made fully up that they wont be getting any of my £!!0 -
Small world they collared me this morning.
Normally unsolicited calls average 4 per day I shut them down straight away even being registered with TPS.
Alarm bells should ring straight away, would any proper legitimate company break the law and contact you.
My name, address is in public domain same as most people.
Tried it on with the mortgage lenders fee added to the borrowed total, that's ok with FSA and wouldn't stand ground. Suddenly they plucked a figure exceeding £8300+ from no where not knowing any values.
Wanted credit card limits, I stated I lowered it by choice some years back to £1250 in case card was stolen. Reply we can get that lifted.
CRM number given along with phone number etc they wanted me to reply to an email instantly where I said later about 3pm. At least I can block.
They called back 2pm didn't answer and again at 4pm ish where I calmly said 'SCAM nice try'
Dare say these get through some staff, numerous recruitment agencys advertising plus heres a job vacancy direct £300 per day.

If you go on www.claimsregulation.gov.uk a pop up alert will greet you with this company.

Sorry to hear they are still scamming people, the fb group ccs review are a scam has managed to warn a few people before they parted with their money, wondering if we should change it's name to reflect the new company. We were hoping they had cleaned up their act, clearly not!
Frankly I don't know how the people that work there can sleep at night, it's really shocking!0 -
It would seem I have been conned too, I was so cautious with the phone call too. Instinct told me not too, but greed obviously kicked in. £299 taken for solicitors fees, to be paid back in full if they didn't take my case on. Yes, the website was checked, every thing seems above board. The strange thing is, I haven't sent my claim pack back yet, and I'm getting plenty of e mails saying they haven't received my claim forms and cannot proceed! I have rung the number given and the calls have been taken. I paid with my debit card, any suggestions to try and get my cash back? I fear it's lost. I feel a right prat being conned.0

Had a call from them today about my car accident. Haven't had a car accident so that was that. They are obviously still functioning though.0

I think this is my first post since joining a while ago. We have narrowly escaped being charged around £1400 on our credit card.
My partner has had 2 successful PPI claims over the past 12 months, one from his credit card and one from his overdraft / bank account.
He took a call today from Full Financial Review who knew details like his address, his bank and a few other details that were too accurate to be a vague guess.
He was on the phone for half an hour out of my earshot, then walked into the room and declared "I think I've just made us £10,000" - to which I didn't look up from my keyboard and said "Oh, that's nice"
Anyway, the upshot was that Full Financial Review company asked for a credit card to "Access full mortgage paperwork" of £495, plus a 10% agreement if they could recover their estimate of £12,000 - He (rather cleverly) gave them credit card details from a new card that had not yet been activated.
He received an email - the type that records your signature as approval and a timestamp to agree to the transaction, which he completed on his iPad whilst he was on the phone.
As I was Googling information about the Full Financial Review both of our mobiles rang at the same time - automated fraud message from Santander - we have a joint account. Both our phones were saying the same message "Here is a PIN number, call us immediately about an attempted fraudulent transaction"
Then the Full Financial Review called back straight away, and said the transaction would not process. My fella told them "Just to give you feedback it was not made clear to me that your fees would be taken out immediately" whilst looking here on MSE for the former company name CCS and found this thread.
There's also another website whocallsme dotcom if you search for the freephone number 08004101230 there is a 5 page thread detailing so many people's anger about this kind of tactic.
This company sounded so convincing, I think our information has been sold from our previous PPI cases, as whilst typing this another phone call from another company has just come through wanted to know about injury claims.
Stay safe, never give out your credit card details to a cold caller, Google them first and don't sign any agreements on the spot0 -
I got scammed back in January by CCS Review. They lied to get my money and today, after 9 months, my bank has accepted a Section 75 Claim for the amount taken by CCS.
However, when reading the letter they want me to sign which is filled with, "without prejudice", "full and final settlement" and "offer" it occurred to me that I might be entitled to the interest that accrued and I had been paying for since the charge nine months ago.
Am I looking a gift horse in the mouth or is it reasonable to write back saying I'd like the interest too so that it's as if the transaction never happened?0 -
Do be aware that the phrase "without prejudice" means that their offer can be withdrawn. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0
-
Yes, that's always in the back of my mind.0
