Nowt bought from charity shop!!!! Though it was a close-run thing!
Bedding washed and mattress turned - but dss still has the airer full of clothes so washing is all draped round the house. Grrr. Did buy an airer from sma11worths but on opening, found it is broken. Grrr.
Did the coffee shop - think I was overcharged. Most unusual.
Meeting friend + kiddies at the local playground in 19 minutes. Hope the rain stays away... Recent rainfall has been the sort where it falls without warning and is so heavy that you cannot help but get soaked...
Aldee shop not done. Couldn't carry it anyway, but just didn't feel like it, a sure sign that I'm not right. Am planning to go tomorrow, and return the airer too. Will get one from argoss. One day.
Have made a batch of AGCJ's carrot soup, with ham + cream cheese rolls and a tomato. Oh yes, and a good glug of cream!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Am compensating by spending. Never done that before. Lovely neighbour is living up to her title and it is good to know she is there.
Today I bought dd a zelf from sainz. She'd asked for it before and I'd said we'd look online. I did look, and it was a lot more money!
Returned some books to the library and got a few more out.
Took a bag to the Sally Army - they greet me like an old friend now - and then pottered around. Acquired a float for dd (20p bargain), 2 work tops and some casual trousers for me (£3), a 100% cotton white flat sheet (£4), several books for dd (£4), a picture frame for dh (£5) (as he has a long thin picture to frame and brand new ones are over £30), 2 books for me (£1) - The Moneyless Man and The Handmade Marketplace, a small box of decorated small pegs (£1 bargain), a jewellery making kit for dd's bday (£1.50) and a mug that I love for 50p. Not a lot of money overall, and all considered and good purchases, but more gubbins in to the house - oops.
Downstairs has all been swept and floor stuff tidied, so it is looking a lot better - and it feels better too.
Car man came out this morning (dh was still here, which was good, as he had a hosp appt but hadn't left) to assess the repairs that'll be needed. Ouch. But the other chap's insurance is paying.
Now that dd is in the Juniors, I collect her a whole 10 mins later. So I have put a coffee on to brew and will mooch through a book for a bit.
Am mightily glad I am not at work tomorrow either. Will need to find things to do to take me out of the house as much as I can.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Lost my temper with dss 2 days ago - it was the selective washing up (but never quite all they had used, nor put any of it away) and the going to look at a car to buy when we have received no rent and the general using of our stuff that did it! Confessed to dh and he went and also had a word - thought he might just soothe things but he said that their current behaviour and treatment of us and our home offends us. (better put than my version of 'it makes us feel like !!!!'...) He and dss had a good conversation and things have been better...even got a little cash out of them.
Am taking dd shopping today after her dance lessons. Could be a long one... We are going to buy a bear that you build for her bday (in JAN!) and I have realised that she really could do with some more socks and a spare pair of school shoes (she wears through the heels underneath. If only she liked kickers). I have a voucher to use up in Holl and B and also want to go to the 99p/£ emporia and wilk0 to start looking for Cmas bits and bobs. Aldee are doing bulb packs soon but the 99p/£ places would be even cheaper. Sainz do a small cafetiere for £5 but hey! hope to find one cheaper.
So it will be another spendy day...
Did the initial bit of the budget planner on the site with lovely neighbour yesterday. It was quite eye-opening for her, and we admit that we had to guesstimate rather a lot. Am hoping she will start to note down what she spends - her 'weakness' is that she will spend any cash she has on the kids and other people.
I have started making bunnies again. 2 are sewn and turned out, now needing stuffing, and 4 more are cut out and pinned.
The rest of the household are still quiet and asleep. Dh woke me at 7 - not deliberately - when he went to the loo, and I'm then unable to relax and stay in bed so have to get up. I enjoy - and need - this time of peace and quiet.
Got me some c00p bargains yesterday. Almost bought a chicken down to £1.49 but then I read the ingredients and it contained barley (grrr) so I had to get one down to £3.29. Still a bargain, and will do several meals. Also got some g-f sausages so they are in the freezer.
Dd is up - gotta goNST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
What the flip? They have STARTED by not paying you anything?0

Indeedy. I've not been able to post about it because I've been so upset by their attitude. Am still not really coping with extra people in the house and in my rant I did say that, and that I may well have to ask them to leave.
They were treating us like house-share mates: not telling us anything like when the gf got a job, or ss was going for interviews... I even found that ss arrived home while I was at work and dd was playing out the front with neighbour - and he didn't let her in. That to me was galling - not even doing something for his little sister. And the breadboard got used for normal bread, and they put things in the freezer despite being told that we needed the space for dd's bread. Individually, they are small things. It is the cumulative result....NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Can see that the build up of small things would be overwhelming. Hang in thereMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0 -
Am hanging! Sometimes by my fingernails...
Today has been a super spendy day, oops.
30.30 on 1 big and 1 little built bears. Part of Cmas and bday sorted.
28 on shoes + socks in m&s
22 in 99p/£ emporia: 8 on goodies and the rest on hyacinths and great pots - more for Cmas sorted (so long as I remember to pot them up)
16 in Holl and B - but used an 11.50 voucher plus made the most of their 'buy one get one 1/2 price' offer with canny paying - put the 2 expensive ones in together then come back later with the rest.
So, just short of 3 figures. Gulp.
But nothing compared with what 'they' have spent - car, tax, insurance... Ah well.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Today is a chilling out day...
I have done a workout and had a lovely bath and scrub. The downstairs is swept, and the rug has been hoovered...on both sides.
Still to do:
- take dd up to the playground
- input some info for an analysis I need to do (keep putting this off and now must do it)
- cut out more bunnies
- pack dd's swim kit for her first school swim session tomorrow
- assemble my attempts at lollipop stick stars and trees
Off to get fabric, patterns, scissors, pins and tray, whilst watching the Great North Run.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Everything done, apart from lollipop assembling. Not bad.
Dsd came over for a last visit before returning to the maple leaf country, which was lovely.
Dh mentioned that ss + gf are going to be seriously looking for somewhere to live, from October.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Hi Apple, I'm really sorry to hear it's not going well with your guests. Good news that they will be looking for new accommodation. Respect and thoughtfulness is so important.
Have a good week.
