4 months to plan a wedding....

What kind of wedding are they wanting? Are they wanting small and intimate or a large affair?
You normally have a large affair about 7 years into the marriage. One of them loses all interest, starts putting in the extra hours at work, saying someone else's name in there sleep...that sort of thing.0 -
Tut Tut Bazey have you been crossed in love and now have an allergy to wedding cake :rotfl::rotfl:Light travels faster than sound.
This is why some people seem as bright until you hear them.0 -
Check out the bridal/wedding dresses in Monsoon. And other stores like Debenhams (where I got mine).
Forget the favours, absolutely not needed.
Call each table a country, or region (if many!) where they've visited. Can be used for the seating arrangement instead of table numbers.
I too bought vases (silver mirrored mosaic) and put two white Gerberas in each (one slightly taller than the other). Some guests got to take these home if they wanted.
Flowers won't take that long if they order now - so long as the date's free.
Find a nice elegant venue which doesn't charge the earth. It doesn't have to be some great big mansion in the middle of nowhere. There's a very nice classical hotel near me which I used for mine. Not huge, but they sorted the table flowers/linen, cutlery, etc, DJ, catering (buffet), and the cake was delivered there.
What area? Might be able to recommend if nearby.
I too made my own invites.
White square 'hammered' card (looks classy/pricey) (with a pre-done fold) and envelopes.
I wrapped very thin pale bluey-silver ribbon around the left side of the front of the card.
Printed the wedding invite details on the right hand side of a thin folded piece of paper which slotted into the ribbon.
The 'join' of the ribbon was on the front, top left hand corner almost, covered with a tiny silvery bow to hide it (all held with glue and glue dots). Wedding 'toppers' saying Wedding or Evening Invitation - all from ebay in the crafts section.
Took me forever, but they looked LOVELY and very expensive.
Jx2024 wins: *must start comping again!*0 -
4 months is plenty of time to arrange a wedding. I did and even then I could have done it in 3 or less. Once you have the venue and booked the registar, then the rest fits around it.0

I planned mine in 24 days.
Anything is doable!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

Or maybe Bride or Groom is terminally ill? Nowt like being judgemental is there?0 -
Ebay is your friend

How about foam flowers instead of real ones, relatively cheap and you can find out in advance when they will be delivered so no stress on the day of them not turning up:

Cheap and cheerful personalised chocs for favours:

Ours was organised in a month which as it wasn't a big do, was more than enough, totally doable if you put your mind to it.
As has been mentioned above, Monsoon or EBay for the dress, as she'd be very lucky indeed to get anyone from a bridal shop, besides that, they are usually quite pricey!
I got my dress off eBay for £70, exactly what I was wanting, a shorter 50's style dress, it's a proper wedding dress too, and brand new as the girl selling it had had it ought for her but she had wanted a long one.
Another money saving option is to have artificial flowers, they are no longer the artificial flowers of old, they look very real nowadays, and a lot of people didn't even realise until they had a look close up. My bouquet and 4 button holes cost £40. Plus, you get to keep them afterwards! My Mam has them on display and they look lovely, red roses with diamontes in the middle.
Pin bages from a favourite charity make a cheap and interesting favour, as do a lottery ticket/scratch card. The possibilities are endless.0 -

Weddings are cheap - the ceremony itself can be done for a few hundred pounds. It's all the extra stuff that people think are essential that bumps up the cost. The cheapest way to have a wedding reception is to book a large hall with a decent sound system, set up a party music playlist on your ipod and put it on shuffle for the night. Then prepare a cold buffet which you lay out on tables round the side of the room. You can do the buffet yourself, or most supermarkets can prepare large sandwich platters for not too great a cost. And the guests will also appreciate not having to endure hours of sitting at a table with people they don't know, eating bland food and listening to boring speeches.0
