Scottish power end of fix to Jan 14

Yup - got the email and also looking into my options. According to the email Scottish Power will credit my account £30 for increasing prices (whoohoo!)
Looking at EDF Blue +Price Promise April 2015 which is fixed until 30 Apr 2015 offer but can't see if I can get that through any cashback sites.....there are no exit fees with that one so if a cheaper offer comes along next year I could jump ship if it is worth it.
The problem with sticking to SP is they will tie you in until March 2015 (fixed until 28/02/15) and charge £50 to exit early.
Haven't had much dealings with SP as everything is done online, and I guess it will be much the same with EDF.....
 Still looking around......0

jayne - Don't just look at dual fuel and using the same company for gas and electricity.
I'm going with npower for electricity - fixed till april 2015
I've decided to take a risk and go with Daligas - fixed for a year. The gas is actually cheaper than the SP jan14 prices.
 I went via this -http://www.energylinx.co.uk/energy/cashback/
£17 cashback per fuel and the cashback is offered for both providers.
After factoring in the cashback I'll actually be paying less, over the next year, for both fuels than the current SP Jan 14 tariff.
Also - both have no early exit penalties.0

I think he is just binge tanking-up before the Scottish Parliament puts up the price of McEwan's Champion.dannymccann wrote: »Troll?

But I genuinely don't understand his post / what the meaning of the words in his post are. I don't understand the D/C D.C shortening, I must admit I don't really follow the news so have no idea what's going on politically which probably doesn't help 0 0

            {D/C = daily [standing] charge}
At least I think that's what he means - considering his febrile state I am not sure I would like to imagine what gender-flexible sexual shenanigans he may be implying. I think he ought to try more 'Sunshine on Leith' and less 'Filth'.0

Thank you all for your sensible messages! ( with the exception of the silly one who was incomprehensible).
I have received the e mail and frankly, don't understand it. Another example of poor communication with intent to confuse and deceive!
Does anyone know when it would be possible to leave without penalty ?0

Also received the email and spoken to SP who confirm my DD will increase to £53 a rise of £6. At present I am locked out of their website, after 8 years it did not like my password.
I have done the comparison thing and find I can save £111, but I am pretty sure there is a get out penalty of £50(can someone confirm, please?), so we would be down to a saving of £60. Edf and Eon get very bad reviews, so I wonder if it is worth switching to save £1 a week from a company that hasn't given bad service.
I believe I read somewhere that you can't switch after the end of your contract, looks as though you can't avoid paying any get out fee.
No matter how much they try to simplify the fuel packages, they have just enough to sow confusion, do we really know what we are letting ourselves in for?
Oh well, time to sit on the phone for half an hour and try to reset my password.0

There is no penalty to leave the SP Jan 14 tariff so you can leave asap. It takes 4 - 6 weeks to transfer to another provider so, if you want to move, get onto it soon. You'll start paying standard prices from Jan 1st - which is going to be a very big jump in price, if you don't move provider or change to one of SP's 'cheaper' tariffs.0
