I had my meter changed so I could pay DD in new flat. When I saw on letter it said E7 I asked about it. It will not benefit me. Last look at meter it had rate 1 30units and rate 2 3 units!! Do not think it will benefit me. even the person I spoke to could not understand why it was E7! I have a combi.

Because the original meter had an E7 serial number. When upgraded it wil be replaced with another E7 meter unless you request otherwise.
The flat would originally have had NSH's and an immersion heater but has been altered.

When I moved in 3 years ago the house was with EDF and had an Economy 7 prepaid meter. I immediately got that changed (by EDF) to a credit meter but the installer insisted it had to be another E7 meter. That was done and I then requested EDF to change it to single tariff and they sent out a guy to reconfigure the meter using a laptop and he put a sticky label on it calling it a single rate - there were no charges for any of the meter swaps.

We then changed to an E-on fixed deal, then to Scottish Power when the E-on fix expired and have just change to First Utility. They all seem to be happy that its a single rate meter although it was initially installed as a dual rate unit.
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers
