Esate Living, is it normal for cars to park...

In which case it is presumably your neighbours? Do they have a drive or garage?
I think the best advice is to try and get over it They are not actually doing any harm (not on curb etc) and there are bigger things to worry about in life eg. Lack of sleep if you have a little baby in that buggy you were talking about
Haha. Its just a minor niggle. They do park on the curb/pavement, but so does every other car.0 -

Very true, I think I need to stake a claim or just accept that cars will park there!0 -
If you want to control who parks outside your home you need to control the road: That basically means you need to own the road.
Start saving.
Cheers!0 -
I think all cars on the estate use the pavement, we have a garage around the back of our property so never park out the front.
Its just frustrating to open your front door and have one possibly two cars parked directly outside?
My question was, is this normal on estates, having never lived on one before?
Yeah, it's fairly normal. End of the day, you own the house not the road. If you live on an estate, there's not exactly going to be a great view, so what does it matter if there's a car in it?Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?

Agreed, I own the house not the road.
If it was your house, would you be so laid back about it?
As I say minor niggle and a draw-back of estate living...0 -

I'm afraid many house / streets are exactly like you described.
Well yes I would/was. I have lived in such places for 13 years. It doesn't bother me at all but my wife did let it get to her a bit and there were plenty of curtain twitchers that were a lot worse than her
As I said before, there are more important things to worry about IMO and it is usually the oaps that sit at home all day looking out their front windows that are the most sensitive...0 -
Appriciate the feedback DRP, does put a perspective to it.0

We have someone's large truck parking outside our house which is a pain but they've always parked there. Just one of those things. Ideally, I'd live in a lovely little cottage with rambling roses around the door in a pretty village down a lane (like where I grew up - well, it was rural!)... however, realism has kicked in and a 1970s semi it is!Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0

Yes this was the point I was trying to get at.
We would all like a view of rolling hills but when you live in an average house in an average town/city we have to compromise quite a bit0 -

My neighbour's car is outside my house now, as it is most nights, because he's got two and no driveway. We've got three cars here tonight, so two are on the drive, the other is parked down the road.
So yeah, I be chilled. :cool:Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
