personally - I wouldn't leave this til parent/teacher evening. this may take more than the allotted ten minutes or so to sort out. a phone call to the teacher explaining that the children got hold of what seem to be private note and you need to meet with her to discuss this. or if you cant phone and get the teacher - Write her a note and hand it to her tomorrow. she needs to explain this!0

are you for real? the kid is NINE fgs! is this a 'wind-up'?0 -

Also, Im assuming the teacher wasnt there when these notes were read. Which makes me wonder if the kids sneaked into the class at a time they shouldnt have done, when my mum teaches her class shes there all the time, she would see someone if they were looking for stuff they shouldnt be reading.
Id be asking where the teacher was when this stuff was being read, how the kids managed to access it?0 -

Yes, I am for real!
I think it's the perfect time to explain the facts of privacy etc.
Yes, the child is 9 YO which is precisely why she does need to have boundaries explained AND why there is a very good chance that the words she has fed back to her mum are not as accurate as they would be from someone older.
I just don't have your knee jerk, martial arts kind of reactions I'm afraid!:hello:0 -

Well yes, she is 9, ie plenty old enough to understand the meaning of "private" and to realise that nobody should have read those notes, irrespective of what's on them.
It does seem a little odd for the teacher to leave her classroom unattended with kids in it. Did they sneak in when they shouldn't have maybe?0 -

Oh OK. The way you said 'now I know what that means' suggested that there was more to it than that. Like when 'tired and emotional' means drunk. Perhaps 'gifted and talented' actually means 'precious and irritating'.

No, no more to it. I just meant I knew what it meant but it would be interpreted differently by young children.
I think your second meaning is quite accurate though...The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
well - if a teacher left something out in plain sight - I can remember we used to read it! Primary, or Secondary school! I distinctly remember one teacher being highly suspicious that our class did so well in one test!
and this does sound like confidential information. which is actually covered by the Data Protection Act! which is really strict on these matters.0
