Retailer charged me for a service without telling me

I suppose so.
I thought that legally the retailer was responsible for informing the customer how much things will cost, and not up to the customer to ask, is this correct or am I mistaken there?
When was the last time that your local bar rung up your drinks order and told you the cost before he started pulling them?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

By law your local bar must have a price list on display.Je suis Charlie.0 -
And if that list says £3 for a pint, I'd be aggrieved if I was then charged £3.20 with the extra being for glass hireOne important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0

I think it's very naughty to charge for this simple service when buying an expensive mobile phone.
Give their Head Office a call and see what they say.0 -

you dont expect to purchase an addon for your phone and get it free because you are paying a large monthly fee.
you would not expect to purchase a £10,000 vehicle and then say to the garage can you fit a towbar and not expect to pay for it brcause you have spent £10,000 on the vehicle.0 -

A tow bar would cost a dealer money. I'd say a simple snip of a SIM card should be all a part of the service, just like the heat and lighting the shop supply. Or do you think that customers should pay separately for all the shops services?0 -
I bought a phone from Phones4u and didnt realise that my old sim wont fit. Walked into a Three store and asked them if they could "shrink" my SIM (at the time I assumed they actually just give me a new one). Took two seconds and when I asked how much it was, they looked at me puzzled for even thinking it would cost money.
Usually I would argue that you are paying for time and tools etc but in this case it's a tool they need regardless and it literally took 2 seconds to do.0 -
