No the phone still work's except the wifi button

The phone may well work but if you have tripped a moisture sensor (its gone red) then warranty will be voided.

    See http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3302 for locations.

As I (and others) have said have you done a restore in iTunes? That's likely to be the first thing Apple do if they look at it.

The moisture indicators on my Blackberry have not been 'tripped' but CPW are saying it's beyond economical repair due to liquid damage, citing a low-resolution image of the innards of the 'phone as evidence of such.

Given that both the staff at the store and the customer helpine are refusing to take it any further, is it really the case that my sole remaining recourse is the small claims court?

The 'phone packed up after about 6 weeks -an independant technician has found no evidence of liquid damage, but the motherboard has a faulty component, however, they are unwilling to put this in writing.

Not even for a fee, which you can add to your claim?

No - in their words 'we have to protect ourselves'. I think it's a case of a small independent repair shop not wanting to mix it with a large chain.

Can they repair it with a report of what they have actually done?

They offered to do so, but of course that would require trying to claim this back retrospectively from CPW, whereas I would rather exhaust all possibilities trying to get repair or replacement from CPW first.

I think you have exhausted them already.
By the law they have to repair/replace or to prove that you damaged it.
They refused and supplied you with the 'proof'. I hope you get it in writing.
Send them a letter before action saying that if they don't repair/replace within, say, 5 days you get it repaired elsewhere and sue them for all the costs and the trouble they caused.
Then get it repaired in other shop with a report and submit a claim to the SCC. I don't think that CPW will have guts even to show in a court with their 'low resolution photo' proving nothing while the indicators remain white.

I am not sure that the letter is really necessary in this case.

Have you tried contacting BB directly under their manufacturer's warranty?

Yes I think your right that I have exhausted all options other than going to SCC, but I wanted to check on this forum first, thanks.

this is what I think everyone is referring too.
Yes, I said all this in post 5 above. I'm not sure why you're repeating it.
  • I think it was a case of posting before reading. Apologies and I'll remove it.
