Are other people taking part? I'm thinking we will, but want to hear other peoples thoughts.
I also thought if anyone is we should perhaps have a place we can discuss ideas?
Look forward to your thoughts,
Megan

I have requested information on this as its the first one in the UK nothing to compare, but it just looks like one of these schemes thought of by a government suit that will just die a death0

Isn't it another American Import???
No I won't be taking part. I was not invited and would have no idea how to take part even if I wanted to.
But I may support the initiative by taking advantage of the free parking our council is offering.
... Or I might save on the fuel too and walk to town as normal

Atidi - I think it may be an imported idea, but does that mean it is a bad one?
You don't get invited, you join.
Take your car, hopefully you will need it for all the locally made and sourced presents you will buy!
Seriously though, I am interested in your thoughts - I don't see an issue with trying to promote local businesses, in fact I actively support it in my daily life and blog. I just wondered whether a more 'nationwide' scheme would help make people think about their actions a little?
Or not?

Is this not what Mary Portas has been trying to do in revitalising the British high street.
The fact is shopping local has been taken over by the Mega Supermarkets, people will get what they want when they do their weekly or monthly shopping, they never shop local now.0 -

As a consumer and MSE member, I'm out for the best deal (as are probably most other shoppers). So, sorry guys and girls, but the size of business isn't a major concern for me, it's whether I can get what I want at a good price, or if it is an out of the ordinary item, the product I want.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

It'd have been helpful if the OP hadn't assumed everybody knew what this was about .... it's not something I've heard of. Maybe it's just in one town/region.0

Yes, but if people dont know about it then its of no use. Just under 3 weeks to go and can anyone point to the TV ads, Radio ads, Newspaper ads telling people about it.

Fair, I had seen it on Facebook and Twitter so thought people may know. https://www.facebook.com/SmallBusinessSaturdayUK?fref=ts
It's a real shame when others don't feel the need to support their small local businesses, but each to their own I guess.
I guess it answers the question about people being involved in the day - clearly there is no interest.
Thanks for the feedback.
