Free Hot drink and cake every month @ John Lewis

I got 3 more vouchers in the post, not spent anything either.0

I would love to know what the logic is behind the allocation of the coffee and cake vouchers. Can anybody throw any light on this?
They seem like a lure to get you into the shop - if you go in anyway and spend a lot of money, they don't need to send you coffee and cake vouchers to get you through the door as you will shop there anyway.
A lot of companies seem to adopt this policy - good offers for new customers but complacency towards the loyal clientele.A chicken crossing the road is poultry in motion0 -

It doesn't even seem to be that you have to spend a lot of money. I appear to have disqualified myself by buying part of a Christmas present (it was mulled wine spices that cost about £5) and two birthday cards...about £10 in total since the promo began.0 -
I've bought a few bits in John Lewis this year, but never remember to swipe my card so it'll only show one £6 online transaction in January for me. I've not had more vouchers either, so that would fit the 'one purchase is all it takes' theory.0

I spent £9 in a single purchase last December and I've had vouchers for every month

Ok, so that's disproves my theory! At least I can still go to Waitrose for my free coffee, although as part of the same group I wonder how long that will continue for?0 -
But that was in December. Perhaps they are only looking at spends there in 2014?
Good thinking. The Christmas present was obviously last year, but the birthday cards were this year. I would never usually buy cards there as they are much more expensive than in other places, but I (apparently stupidly!) thought it was only right to buy something when I was being given a free cake and coffee.
Has anybody who has bought something this year received vouchers recently? My last batch was for May/June/July.0 -
My one and only JL purchase using the card was a box of chocolates for a Xmas present, sometime in November IIRC. I've received a constant stream of vouchers and I've still got two valid vouchers left at the moment.
I don't believe who gets vouchers is tied to spending at all.
SPCome on people, it's not difficult: lose means to be unable to find, loose means not being fixed in place. So if you have a hole in your pocket you might lose your loose change.0 -
I spent money = no vouchers. My daughter didn't buy anything = vouchers.
I would like to know how it's decided. I don't feel I have a "right" to them at all, they are a perk, but I'd be interested to know how their system works.0
