I think it's too popular a freebie to stop now as it's almost become a cult thing - looks how it's discussed on here and elsewhere!

I did a paid online survey chat awhile back and quickly twigged it was for Waitrose and the coffee offer was very popular the person said he doubted they would stop it! After all they are now the 2nd coffee provider in England!

Just to add further to my issue with the Waitrose in the John Lewis in Oxford Street; I visited the store this evening and they now have notices up explaining that they will no longer be accepting the MyWaitrose card from mid September (can't recall the exact date, possibly the 19th or 21st?) I'm wondering if they were pulled up on their rule of needing to spend £10 for the free coffee and have realised they can't sustain it.

Lol your right, it is almost cult like on here and lol at that wiki link, that gave me a good laugh.

People will always have theories that don't make much sense, but its nice to know there is a word for it.

latest I heard other cafes/supermarkets trying to stop waitrose giving coffee away free!!! how unfair is that!

Thanks for the update. So disappointing they're taking such action but not surprising.

It's the temporary cards they're no longer accepting (from the 15th). I saw a sign in the Leeds store the other day and just had a quick check on the Waitrose site.

I'll be back at John Lewis for a cake and hot drink on Sunday with my mam. It's only her second time.
She also got her Waitrose card the other day, so we'll both be getting a free hot drink from there too

Well it was good whilst it lasted!

My vouchers are due again from September so unsure if i'll get anymore based on their latest communication that only some customers are going to be sent vouchers. I have bought some stuff in JL over the last 12 months but not exactly an avid shopper so I doubt I'll be rewarded for much longer.
