Tesco Mobile PAC - charge full 30 day period?

Hi all

I know there is sometimes inconsistencies around whether a network charges you for the full 30 day notice period or whether they only charge you to the day your number transfers to the new network, but does anyone know what route Tesco Mobile usually take?

Many thank

#29.

There are no any inconsistencies. All networks charge for full 30 days after you give them a notice - regardless of using PAC earlier.

Some networks try to charge you for more than 30 days though, but not Tesco.

I've had times where I've only been charged to the point where my mobile number transfers over. Three did this in recent memory.

care to expand on that ???

I'm having some bother with EE, about this

    my contract's (3) end on the 23.Nov.2013
I phoned up on the 23.Oct.2013, 1 to give 30 days notice to leave/cancel my contracts, 2 to request PAC codes****

    ***
I was refused my request for PAC codes at this time

after doing some research/checks I phoned back on the 28.Oct.2013, to ask why I was refused my PAC codes (without going into details) I got my PAC codes, I also gave notice (again) to cancel the contract

on both occasions I made the point about not getting charged early termination fees etc

low & behold my final bill arrives, I have been charged 3 x early termination fees, as well as 3 x full month's line rental ???

You needed to ensure when getting the PAC you sit on it for 27-28 days to see out the notice period you then get charged for the odd day or two you terminated 'early'.

If no PAC is involved, the transfer is immeasurably simpler as you depart on Day 30 of your notice.

Thanks for that, but I'm in a little pickle
I originally asked for PAC code on 23.Oct.2013 (contract ends 23.Nov.2013)
I eventually got PAC codes on 28.Oct.2013
I was told I have 30days to use this PAC code, I queried the fact that, a) my contract ends on 23.Nov & b) I originally asked for the PAC codes on the 23.Nov.2013

just spent over 30 minutes talking to a foreign call centre trying to sort this out

The provider has 5 working days to provide your PAC, so what is the issue?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

the issue was when I originally asked for my PAC codes, they guy told me blatant lies, he said I would have to pay for the code at this time, he refused my request for my pac codes
he told me to call back in 30 days for my free PAC code, this would of been outside of my contract

I gave 30 days notice to quit
I then started to look round for deals, when I found out they have to give me the PAC code
so I phoned back on the 28.Oct, where low and behold I got the PAC codes there and then, I also reiterated my desire to leave my contract on the 23.Nov

now I have me final bill, I have been charged for 3 x early termination fee and 3 x full month's line rental, even though when I phoned on the 28.Oct, I was told the charge for the remaining 7 days would be minimal, and she did a credit to cancel this

as you can see I'm having 1 or 2 problems in trying to leave EE

If you mean "try to charge you for more than 30 days" bit, then there is a long thread explaining this happening at T-mobile - where you have already posted without reading it I guess.

Regarding your problems with Orange, only they can explain why they are breaking their own T&C and charge more than the T&C say.

They have to charge you until Nov 23rd and some of this amount you most likely have already paid in advance.

ETA: in fact Orange used to have some error in the T&C allowing you to pay less than for 30 days in some circumstances: How to dodge the 30 day cancellation notice with Orange contracts.
Don't know if the T&C have been corrected since then.

Are you sure the 23rd is your minimum term for your contract?

You didn't do a upgrade last time did you? because it looks like they have charged you for three extra months

If you had an early upgrade then the remaining months from the old contract will go on the new contract so instead of being 24mth you would end up with 27mths that would make your contract end Jan/feb 2014.

the problem being there are a number of threads about both Tmobile & EE, most of the threads I have read (and yes I have posted) on them without a reply

I have been searching and reading various forums & other people's responses etc

However in my case despite 2 phone calls to EE, the first as you know now I was told a pack of lies, on the 2nd call where I thought the problem had been resolved, by a very helpful lady in a UK call center

however my final bill appears to contradict what both callers told me, with terminations fees, with credits and with full month's charges ???

hence I'm trying to get some up to date advice, rather than reading threads from former company's

funny thing is I've read on several threads about Tmobile/EE eventually refunding the termination charges, well after spending some time yet again this afternoon to EE, I have just received a text confirming a refund of the termination charges
