When I dispose of elctrical equipment I cut the plug off. The next user then has the responsiblity of safely rewiring the product . For the OP i would cut & dispose of old plug and rewire correctly.

"Part P" is not, and has never been, an accredited electrical qualification. It is a Building Regulation. No one can be "Part P qualified."

Presumably to let some cutoff plugs into the wild
You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'

Jeez stop now I laughing too much.

On a slightly more serious note, since molded plugs came into being for everything new I buy, I have completely forgotten which way to wire a plug.

Not had to do any plugs for years but recently for an old clock radio, and had to bleddy Google it.

I mean my grandad will be turning over in his grave bless.
    63 mortgage payments to go.

One of the many sad aspects of that case is that the disconnected power lead which led to the child's death was not even a moulded plug, but a rewireable plug which the "handyman" had not bothered to remove from the cable!
