My 2p worth, I love HB, buy the nicky loo roll as nothing compares to it no matter what the price and I get my olive oil there too only £1.99 a bottle for 500ml F Berio a good price, but to be honest I rarely come out of the store with JUST what I went in for, fantastic for wrapping paper and their printer ink kits are so cheap and fine for printing coupons:D, actually I am probably in the sad camp as going there is a highlight for me:oThe person who never makes a mistake never learns anything.0

Love our HB and B&M stores...more so when I come across a shock (nice shock) item or two I wasn't expecting.0

My second visit to Home Bargains today.
Got wrapping paper, Eucryl (no fluoride) tooth powder, Jordans granola, pickled mussels, five cotton handkerchieves, crabmeat, Ocean Spray dried cranberries (to add to granola) all very cheap. They had the metal stools I was looking for but the finish was terrible, paint was scratched. I will ask OH if they could be spray painted tho.
It was quite busy but not really cramped like previous visit and the staff are all amazingly polite.
My mother got 12 kitchen rolls for 3.99 and 18 loo rolls for 3.99. The kitchen rolls were only 1p cheaper than buying 3 packs of 4 kitchen rolls from Iceland and IMO the quality looked inferior to Iceland. The loo rolls were quilted tho and looked fine.0 -
I love it, it's a basics shop, fresh food is Aldi/lidl etcBlackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0

I get my toilet paper from there, £2.00 for 9 rolls and it's good stuff too, better than the expensive stuff imo, I have found though that they do tend to misprice a lot of stuff, on 3 trips each time there was something mispriced, one was only 10p but one was £1 more and another £2 under priced on the shel but £2 more at the till, not nice when there's a queue.0

The staff in home bargains are very polite, thats been my experience. Unlike some in my local B and M and poundworld, tbh Im not one for complaining in shops even if the service isnt great, but you do notice the difference when shop staff are actually pleasant to you.
Im off to home bargains today. Might try the loo roll from there, havent bought it before and also might get some of the arts and crafts stuff for my mum.
I buy the koka noodles as well, probably said that before, theres no trans fats, no MSG, no added nasties and only 25p a packet, Im not a carboholic, but you can make a cheap meal and add a decent amount of veg and protein to the noodles, its fine when you want something cheap and quick.
I also buy their tuna for my cats, my local home bargains has 49p tuna and it looks better quality than the Tesco 49p one. Still to find a cheaper box of cat food at 375g than at home bargains, was in wilkinsons yesterday and their cheapest is 60p, home bargains does a pack of the same size for 49p.
If I had more disposable income Id probably spend more in home bargains than I actually do.0 -
This is the manufacturer's website and it says no MSG, additives etc which would be them healthier than Pot Noodles. Certainly healthiest looking instant noodles I've seen.
For people with wheat/gluten intolerances though you'd need to check they were rice not wheat noodles (Tat Hui does both) and whether there was a risk of cross-contamination.

Home Bargains sells Riesen bars and it looks like each bar has several pieces in it.

Wikipedia says that Bostonians make hot chocolate by melting them over a very low heat and adding 1 cup (240-250ml) hot milk per piece.0 -
I also really like home bargains own brand G and T. I would be cheaper buying a bottle of gin, but as Im watching my weight at the moment I like to buy the odd ready mixed can for a pound. I had a gordons and tonic ready mixed last night and I didnt really like it, the home bargains sell a brand called navigator and its very nice.
Havent tried their own brand Pimms nor their own brand baileys, baileys in particular way too calorific for me at the moment, but if I wasnt on said healthy eating kick, I probably would buy it.
They also do stuff like glucosamine gel, I may have posted this already, but its about 6 quid in Holland and Barrett, two quid in home bargains and various other vitamin pills quite cheaply. I also bought some coconut water very cheaply earlier in the year, was about a quarter of the retail price.
Anyone who likes perry, they do a 250ml can of perry for 49p and a box of perry, 3 litres for 4.99. They also do a tin of john west crabmeat for 99p. Loads of sauces cheaply, think the brand is called robertshaw, saw a tomato and jalapeno relish today for 39p.
And I must buy some heinz worcester sauce before it runs out of stock, 79p for a large bottle.0 -
HB is great for toilet roll, stardrops etc and some toiletries. It's great for cheap gifts like pencils, pens, notebooks, rubbers etc for my treat box at school.

I think it is a case of 'you get what you pay for'. As with B&M, sometimes you get great branded bargains and even some of the brands you haven't heard of can come up trumps.
On another note, for anybody in Ayrshire, there is a new store opening in Greenock in February next year.MSE Addiction, should come with a health warning:money:0
