I look forward to threads on growing sweet peas and brassicas on a coastal garden. Seaweed for mulch and compost, anyone?

Let people discuss whatever they please. If I am not interested then I will simply ignore, but please no trick thread titles!

As pointed out to you on the other Discussion Time thread:

Our Northern Ireland discussions get lost on DT however because of the sheer volume of threads. We are different here. Different culture, different sense of humour, different concerns in life, different political system, different laws and a totally different way of life.

Why shouldn't we ask for a separate discussion board in these circumstances? Of course we can ask, but may not receive.

And as I pointed out to you, the rules are clear. All forums apart from the arms and dt are for moneysaving.

GlynnD - With due respect, I personally don't think we are that different and do not know why you thought this "poll" was a good idea?

There is no 'main UK' board. The forums are for people who live anywhere in the UK, and that includes those in NI.

How are you deciding who should be allowed to vote, is there some sort of habitual residence test?

I have no control over who votes. What I've done though is to ask that only Northern Ireland members vote because it is they who are asking for the separate forum. Referring to the other forums as "the main UK board" was just a bit of terminology. I hope you'll forgive me if I chose my words unwisely?

Rolo I just did what I thought was best. I put the poll in with the intention of showing site management how much support (or otherwise) there is for a separate DT forum for Northern Ireland.

None of this is being done with the intention of upsetting anyone and I'm very sorry if it does, genuinely. Some NI posters have been quite forceful in their calls for a separate board and I don't know what other way to ask, other than to e-mail management and then let the members know what I've done.

Yes I might be making a complete @rse of myself but it's with good intentions and it won't hurt anyone. It won't be the first or last time I've made an eejit of myself online. :D

Having lived in other parts of the UK for more than half my working life I can say with certainty there are massive differences.

I also have worked in other parts of UK and yes IMO there are some differences but not massive differences - depends on the person.

I'm with IrishJohn on this. I've worked all over the UK and there are substantial cultural and personal differences in all areas. I do firmly believe Northern Irelanders are unique. It's not that other parts of the UK aren't. I'm just saying NI is unique in it's own way, as other areas also are.
