Northern Ireland Members Only Please
We have the option to make the voters names public and will request that admin disregard those who are not regulars on the Northern Ireland board.
Here is a copy of the e-mail sent to the admin team in response to the suggestion that we have a new board for non-moneysaving discussion in the Northern Ireland forum.
None of us can do anymore than this, unless someone knows differently? If so speak up now.
Please help admin and the posters who want the new board by expressing your preference in the poll.
Thank you.
Dear team,
Recent discussions on the Northern Ireland forum have indicated a desire by some to have the forum split into two sections. One for Moneysaving only and a second for non-moneysaving discussions. A suggestion has been made that the second forum be called "Northern Ireland Discussion Time". It could also be given a frivolous title such as "Murphy's Bar" and given the same type of discussion leeway provided for in the Moneysaver's Arms.
Would management agree to this?
With reference to a second forum: some of us like to discuss the politics and history of our country. We generally have these discussions in a sensible and collegiate fashion but occasionally someone takes offence at some of the dialogue, which we don't find surprising as people have strong views on politics everywhere but especially in Northern Ireland with its recent history of extreme violence, very strong views are held. I feel, and I know that other posters would agree, that there should be a set of guidelines posted as a sticky at the top of this forum, should you grant our request, explaining what the do's and don't are.
My personal view is that the Northern Ireland board is busier now than at any time in the duration of my membership period and probably could do with expansion. The subjects I have outlined are already being discussed and rarely need intervention from the admin team. I think even that could be reduced with the introduction of a "Discussion Time" board because most of the complaints I'm seeing at the moment are due to the dialogue or banter being posted on what the majority of posters feel should be a moneysaving only forum. Removing them to another location would provide the membership with a choice, which can't be a bad thing.
To assist you I will post a copy of this e-mail to the existing board and include a poll to indicate support or otherwise for this request.
Kindest regards
GlynD

I voted "No" because I always thought DT was available to everyone and there is no need to segregate people in non moneysaving discussions.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A
"Marleyboy you are a legend!"
MarleyBoy "You are the Greatest"
Marleyboy You Are A Legend!
Marleyboy speaks sense
marleyboy (total legend)
Marleyboy - You are, indeed, a legend.0 -

I did this because some people were asking for it but don't seem to have the ability or desire to do the work themselves. I'm not in agreement with it either but I feel honour bound to support the wishes of others. That's why I voted yes.
I'll do anything within reason to stop the bickering which has been going on recently and which always seems to be centred around what I post and the threads I've started. I don't feel I've done anything wrong but I respect that everyone has a right to have a voice - so I've provided it.
Whether the new forum is granted or not the outcome of this should stop the infighting.
Can you blame me for wanting a quiet life and to look forward to posting here amongst my own community without anyone insulting me or telling me I shouldn't post on certain subjects?0 -
There's no need there is DT for discussions of the type you insist on putting up here
As pointed out to you on the other Discussion Time thread:
Our Northern Ireland discussions get lost on DT however because of the sheer volume of threads. We are different here. Different culture, different sense of humour, different concerns in life, different political system, different laws and a totally different way of life.
Why shouldn't we ask for a separate discussion board in these circumstances? Of course we can ask, but may not receive.

I see you have edited the OP to make the decision who can vote or not as the case may be. Can Russell Brand vote? Its not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama

it would end up a bigoted slanging match ."Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0
