Ofcom does not allow a network to charge (consumers) a fee to port a number.

This is exactly what I thought, but Ofcom themselves say:
Some mobile phone providers may charge you a fee to move your number.

Exactly. If the receivers charged customers (up to £25) for the transfer, this will generate a chunk of cash to pay the creditors.

Refusing to do this would be acting improperly (in my lawperson's opinion) as it would be:

1/ Turning revenue away (needed to pay debts)

2/ Not lawful as number portability is required by law

All hypothetical of course as Ovivo may never go bust. But if it did you should still be able to port out but the receivers may charge a fee.

Rumours about what happened when other mobile providers went bust are no more than that. Is there any evidence that customers were unable to port out (other than hearsay from another forum)?

Conversely is there any evidence of anyone being able to port out a bust company? We all know morality and even common sense say it should happen but practically, in my experience of companies going bust there won't be anyone left in the building to do it and all the creditors providing the services needed to do it will limit their losses and pull the plug instantly.

They just increased the allowance on the free tariff ...

You now get 200 minutes, 300 texts and 500 MB of data per month,
But from 1st Jan 2014 OVIVO to OVIVO is no longer free once you've used your allowance - it's 2p / min or 2p a text.

And here we are today, Ovivo did go bust (I had £4 on my account so not a great loss there, however it will never be that cheap again).

So to the original OP, once they went bust I filled the online form to request the PAC yesterday at 23:38 and got it by email today at 13:05.

Still good service in that respect, shame about the staff I have a feeling that the directors will not stay poor following this failure (as it usually is in our brave new world).
Five exclamation marks the sure sign of an insane mind!!!!!
