I don't know about the N95 but I had another one of the N series phones - the N90 and it was the worst phone i ever had - it had so many faults etc with it. http://www.yourmobilephonereviews.co.uk/nokia_n95_reviews the above reviews for it - hope they help :)

had my N95 for nearly a month now, always had nokias in the past, but this is the first N series i`v used, so far i`m very impressed with the phone, software works well and the satnav has been pretty good too,(not used the voice direction system though as yet) but the route planner and other options are very good

the rest of the phone has been faultless also, but i`m sure you will have some negative views on here also, as they tend to be the people most motivated enough to reply at times, but personally very happy with the phone so far

Do a search for 'N95' on here, there are loads of threads with opinions.

My personal one is that Nokia have tried to stuff as many features as they can to sell it, but have neglected some of the fundamentals such as stability and battery life.

I do like my N95, but for some it may need alot more polishing to appreciate the features out of the box.

As long as you make sure it is unlocked and sim free (or from O2) you will not have any problems. otherwise Orange, T-Mob, Voda will most likly give you problems.

last friday had two calls from someone and both times got cut off and on sunday morning when i woke up it was dead again and it just wouldn't boot

called customer services they said take it the O2 shop they will send it off for repair

it takes upto two weeks and O2 shop didn't have a loan phone to give me so iam without the phone:mad:

so would most people agree that o2 is the "best" option to go for with this particular phone?

Also Pingu I hope (although not much relief for you) that yours in an isolated case I am sure of the thousands phones they produce a few faulty ones end up in the trade but what was more concering is that it takes 2 weeks to repair??? That's a long time! I am with 3 currently and the only time I had to send my phone off was they collected it the same day and delivered it within 3 days. You also say that the shop didnt have a loan phone, does it mean that if they had they would have given you one or dont they do loan phones at all. In the first place if the phone is really needed I suppose another branch could be visited or arrange for the phone to be repaired when a loan phone is available (obviously if the phone is not dead and the fault can wait sort of thing!) (?)

I've had my N95 since just after launch and have been more and more impressed with it as the time passes.

Mine is an O2 Phone but on T-Mobile, basically my wifes upgrade from O2 with my T-Mobile Contract SIM in it from my MDA Vario II. So I'm running with Web & Walk Pro and it is superb.

Pretty impressed with the Sat Nav as well now that I have a Brodit in car cradle. The maps as they are downloaded are more accurate than the ones on my TomTom 910. So you have to pay for the Navigation option at £67 for three years for Europe but that is a lot cheaper than buying the map upgrades from TomTom.
    Cheers

I would really say SIM FREE is the best option. but that would be too expensive. But O2 is close enough.

However I should point out that getting it with any other provider will not mean you will definitely get faults - it just means there is a higher chance as a lot of people discover. And getting it from O2 will not mean you will be immune from faults. As the above post proves - but will be a better chance of less faults.

In my opinion sim free = O2. Simply because you cannot tell the difference between them apart from product code - so if you get a faulty O2 phone chances are it was Nokia's fault and not O2 - unlike other providers who try to customise their phones and screw them up.

So I think most people will agree that O2 is the best bet.

just to add further to my post, my N95 is with O2 and it came unlocked for any network, which was a nice bonus.

I think that your post pretty much consilidated my opinion and will be looking to buy it from o2. Unfortunately there are not may good deals on a 12 months contract (which I want) unlike the 18 months contract where there are many good deals around.

If anyone was willing to help I was looking to spend around £35 with a free N95 or to pay as little as possible.

    Thank you very much! :T
