If he HAD answered all the OP's questions the skipper would have had to kill the OP, in the interests of security.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

OP, it's a shame, but just let it go. Whilst it was a good day out for you, it was a day when of course the deaths of friends and colleagues is high in the mind of any people. Thinking of lost friends can leave you feeling a little mortal, and not focusing on entertaining. Especially answering technical questions may just not be what you want to be doing. They're ambassadors insofar as they wear the uniform, but it wasn't a social occasion and public display so much as a day for those who had lost friend and loved one to reflect.
I'd suggest just letting it go, I'm sure it wasn't personal, people just have different moods sometimes0 -
Was he a rear Admiral or just an ordinary Admiral?Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

Should be keel hauled, treating a tax payer like that:rotfl:If at first you don't succeed, sky diving is not for you!0

The email address :rotfl: you've got fat chance.
Not being funny, but if real, you seem kind of odd. Coupled with that and wanting to know the ins and outs of his ship. I'm not surprised he ignored you. Can't be too cautious nowadays.
The RNLI and fire brigade will talk for ages because their jobs aren't a matter of national security, nor will they be bound by the official secrets act.
Plus if you were that much of an anorak you would know the military are not civil servants.0 -
what im looking for is the e-mail address of Admiral Sir George Zambellas so i can tell him of my recent 'interactions' with one of his captains, bear with me..........
on Armistice Day i had the prievilege of attending the rememberance service at Valletta Saluting Battery in Malta. among the guest were some of the crew of HMS Dragon, including 1 scarey Chief Gunner, the Commander and the Captain.
after the service the guest mingled and chatted. the Captain was talking to his Commander looking out over the habour with 3 navy ships in view.
i asked him which was his and he pointed his ship out. as im bit of a geek i'd googled it and asked a few questions about his ship. when i turned around awaiting his reply, he'd turned to his Commander and basically blanked me!
whilst i understand i must have come across as bit of a nerd and geek i feel as he was representing the Navy, and tax payers money, he should have been more of an ambassador and engaged; even if he'd rather have been pulling teeth!!
am i been unresonable or should anaraks be made to walk the plank!?
The highlighted bit is the important detail in this, he turned to his superior - which if he hadn't done so could have wound up with him being reprimanded by said superior.Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0 -

I think commander is junior to captain. I may be wrong but I think it's the position directly below captain. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

You are correct. A Captain outranks a Commander and Commander is the immediate junior to a Captain.
For anyone bored enough to care, in order the officer ranks are - Officer Cadet, Midshipman, Sub Lieutenant, Lieutenant, Lieutenant Commander, Commander, Captain, Commodore, Rear Admiral, Vice Admiral, Admiral, Admiral of the Fleet.0 -

.
The RNLI are also a charity, who will talk about their work in the hope that you will think about donating to their good cause.1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0 -
