Afternoon Pips and all!
We did have a good weekend thanks; went to see this which I loved. For one of the installations ('teepees') the information explained that the artist had discovered that fluorescent tubes flashed when connected to an electric fence while trying to come up with a way to protect his wife's chickens from foxes. Of course the one thing we all wanted to know, and which wasn't in the info, was 'did it work'? Well after getting home I contacted the man himself to ask, and he wrote a very nice reply saying that yes, it did, although he didn't know whether it was the flashing light or the electric fence that was the real deterrent!
Back home we went for a very pleasant walk in the woods, then got out the Xmas decorations. I used to avoid all Xmassy things until the last moment, but now the girls like all the build-up so much I figure I may as well enjoy it too!
Also made the beetroot and rhubarb salad for tea and it was yummy - thanks!
Unfortunately all that having fun took up too much time and I ended up working until 1:30 am to catch up, which wasn't so good. Really need an early night tonight if possible!
This morning have been making paper chains with little one, using up last year's bits and pieces of wrapping paper (OH's family think I'm mad as I stop them throwing away all their wrapping paper and save it to use again or for making into things). Paper bird decorations coming up later when bigger DD is home!0 -
Hey Trog - how exciting and what a beautiful event that looked - thank you for sharing.
I think making chains from wrapping paper sounds wonderful.
I'm glad you liked the beetroot salad - its delish isnt' it.
Well the expenses are done and the invoices are written and emailed
Three events this week so I need to do a bit of planning.
Xmas in our house is a bit odd too, as we're all away but the run up is quite exciting!
All meals today been from stores and this should continue all week.
DD also made some rather yummy xmas biscuits which are being demolished and I took some to work for the lads. I must find the recipe as they were lovely.
Thank you for all advice regarding stockmost helpful.
This weeks meal plan will consist of
Mon - Pulled pork and noodles
Tues - Special fried rice leftovers
Wed - HM pizza with wedges a la GP inspired.
Thurs - Thai soup with salmon
Friday - off to Inverness on the hairyplane so maybe a treat - who knowsdepends how tired my arms are after that day trip.
Sat - Clapshot and mince
Sun - some kind of roastage and yorkshires and veggies.
Not needing much in way of grub this week aside milk/banana'sTotal debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

Morning Pippi - so good to hear you back to your normal busy self! - I trust the green is well gone?
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
something to do with their xy chromosome!!!
I think perhaps the xy chromosomes don't do logistics too well. I hope your weekend was not completely filled with chores.
I'm a bit wiped out - but not so green. A wee glass of the old 'vin chaude' last night put me to sleep nicely on the sofa.I'm not helping here by re showing BUT it's a gorgeous pic.
Wow and double Wow...things are looking so good....you must be excited on so many levels
The deer are gorgeous eh - not at the tree place when we were there on Sunday but they're due soon (with the big man too I hear)
:A
Well things at work (horti, not wombles) are beginning to get a bit interesting, we'll see if anything actually manefests itself.
One can only hope no one finds me out inbetween.

Patties???
Ah beanie - food of the gods.Potatoes, minced beef, onions and seasoning, deep fried in batter ... There used to be a chippy here that added cheese ... Seriously yummy and, as it turns out, purely Orcadian !
And yup purely Orcadian although I'd read something of some being available outside Hull??
Whilst I don't advocate we deep fry everything, these are epic. Spicy in flavour, like a good haggis, but a nice mix of tattie, mince and other goodies. Often recorded with 'secret spices'
I have tasted very good veggie ones made by a chum using veggie haggis and tatties/veg. Also very very good. But I think these are generally concocted behind closed doors.
I'm not sure I'd want clouted for making a veggie pattie by the pattie purists but man they're tasty.
And for my shame and the record, I've never managed a 'double patty supper'. Whilst I love the noble tattie - even for me that's a bit of an overload.Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

Been catching up
Who is DDD???
Mum used to have a very real looking brick to throw at the telly, made out of rubbery stuff, it got regular use when Arthur Scargill showed his face :rotfl:
:rotfl::T
Not sure what she would think about an independent ScotlandSuspect she would love the idea but hate the reality…..
we're all a bit confuddled I think.
My pal in America demands I take chocolate, TBags, Paxo Sage & Onion Stuffing & barely black hold ups!
I love books tooInherited lots from Mum which I treasure
Cookery Books….. I have a few….. but find Google fab for banging in what is in the fridge/freezer/cupboard and coming up with something new for dinner. Found some great recipes that way & its has saved no end of waste :T
Anyone with a Morrisons? They sell packs of bones for stock at a very reasonable cost. I give them to my doggies for tea as they are raw fed
Morrisons opening this week in Mr RG's home toon. He's very excited.
DDD - Guy - swoon. Nuff said.
Excellent fusion food and some killer grub I've never heard of.
And agree google is epic for recipe ideas as is our shameful work plug site/app
Love Food Hate Waste
Love the american shopping list
Cook books I find are great for bed time reading. And google/internet great for in the moment inspiration tooTotal debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

I wis stunned to find out that chip shops doon sooth didna hae patties ! Theyre missing a trick !
Have they dragged out those asthmatic deer in the garden centre again ?
Yes they have and a few moth eaten other delights
And maybe a pattie stand on the M90 to serve all those heading 'sooth' or hame the other way for a wee pattie fix. That COULD be my new job!Awww. You're a good person!I try but often fail.
Me too - I love Sherlock!
He's a firm fave here.
Lots of "ooh" here - a book! Mr RG! - excellent :j
I have a normal weekend, finally, after months of lurgification - i.e., I'm off out both days to have fun - hope Mr RG *does* get to you :j and not too much work in the meantime.
I'm glad you've have had a lovely weekend. Mr RG did indeed brave the ferry and came home looking a bit green but otherwise OK, they came 'up the flow' which is a sure sign of a lumpy boat.
I'm cramming in the hours as I vanish on holiday for half of December

Great stuff!
And by the way, I lurve deep fried stuff. Just sayin
And don't think I didn't notice *quite* how much those expenses were for ... *and* you've got more to invoice for  Extra teaching hours are good, tho :jthat'll get the debt down right quick :money:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Yup and the expenses money is in - so I MUST pay a considerable chunk of it to the cards. There was a work flight in there too - hence it being SO bad.
Pay off card now its in the account - my otherhalf (work colleague wise) is pretty quick off the mark with expenses. Off to do that now.
Petrol expenses were £104 so that's made my petrol neutral this month.

Virtual bank is offline.
I'm sure this is a conspiracy.
I did pay £10 off my Terrible card - but I can't do any more without access to the expenses money.
Gadzooks.
Still small steps and all that. Must look for travel solutions to getting down before xmas.
Ponders.
Also updated spreadsheet and putting in real travel spends as I know this is an area I under budget.Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
