I have excellent news!

Maybe this isn't the place on the boards for it, but it is you lot I've been doing my whining/venting to on this issue, and you've helped immensely, so it is you lot who deserve to hear the good stuff first!

As you know, I've been temping on and off for several years, with horrible periods of unemployment and skintness, looking for a perm job but nothing happening and getting all disheartened.

I have just found out that I have got a permanent job with the company that has given me most of my temp work for the last couple of years. Full-time, no interview or probation period, my contract is being put in the post today, I know the other staff there and get on well with them, and they are offering a much bigger salary than I expected! I start on 2nd December. What a lovely early Christmas present, especially as the temp market is dead in Dec and Jan and this year it didn't start picking up until mid-March.

No more earning big one week but not knowing how long that money has to last. No more benefits. (Though I am grateful for every penny I got, it enabled me to keep a roof over my head and not starve, but obviously anything outside that is out of the question and I was so miserable at missing out on so much in my young years.)

I heard on Wednesday afternoon that the company wanted me and since then they and my agency have been negotiating salary. It's been a nailbiting 48 hours but it has all worked out even better than I hoped for.

So to anyone jobseeking, never give up. This has taken me years of hard work, and many periods of thinking I'd never get here, but here I am. It can happen. Keep the faith.
Public appearances now involve clothing. Sorry, it's part of my bail conditions.

    Congratulations to you OP :T

I am sure you will be a great asset to this company. Thanks for sharing such great news with us.
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.
  • This is definitely the right place to post such wonderful news. Yes you have had some real downs over the last few years, but every time you picked yourself up and got on with it.
This is very deserved break through:T
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once
