I always feel we're doing quite a lot better than a lot of people our age- everything we have we've saved ourselves without help from parents!

    Situation
    Married, both 25.
DH works F/T I am recently unemployed. Update: Now self-employed (but small earnings!)
    No children.

    Annual Income
    £35,000 (pre-tax)

    Savings
    £10,000- DH cash ISA
    £8115- My cash ISA
£3540- Instant access car fund (insurance, repairs, replacement etc)

    Assets
£500 market value- 14 year old car (prob more in reality)

Neither of us has a pension yet

No debts. (We both have massive student loans, but I'm not counting those as "real" debt).

We rent privately which eats a large chunk of our monthly income (saving for a deposit on our first house).

    That's all!

I've found this a fascinating thread - both in terms of what people hold and individual thoughts in investments, short and long term.

we are self confessed property lovers - i know its not good to hold all eggs in one basket, but this suits us quite well at the moment (and has done for the last 7 years). all our investments are joint and as OH is self employed (whilst i am employed) we pool all money so that its balanced in both good and bad times!

We are married 27 and 31

    Assets:
    Main home - £300k value
    BTL - £350k value (total)
    SIPP - £40k

    Liabilities
    Main home mortgage - £240k
    BTL - £291k

You may note that we don't appear to have any savings. Well in fact we do - we are offsetting them all in our mortgage. This gives us the flexibility of reducing our mortgage whilst still having cash if we need it! Works for us anyway.

Total income is hard to guesstimate but broadly - employment earnings £50k, SE £25k, rental profits £12k, total of £85-90k ish

in summary, we could be doing better in terms of assets but we are building up two fledgling businesses which are expensive! (and time consuming!)

Hopefully in a few years time we will be reaping rewards.
    Net mortgage: £246,227 - now £240,286.52

    Daily interest: £21.24 - now £20.67

Goal 1 - get daily interest to below £20.
