    Single, 26 years old

    Salary : Variable

    Assets :
    Cash - £240000
    SIPP - £24000
    Funds - £20000

    Liabilities : None

Basically I'm far too indecisive/busy as to where/what to invest in and as such am sitting on cash not earning much interest at all.

That's a very, very, good position for a 26 year old to be in. When I was that age I think I had about 20 quid to my name.

Great thread, with some good insights. I've turned a corner this year realising I have a lot of catching up to do. As I hardly have any assets or pension provision.

Spent last 3 years overpaying mortgage but will stop when fix ends in 6 months and remortgage back onto a 25 year term and throw money into S&S ISAs and Pension.

    Salary - £72k

    Assets
    House - £600k (zoopla estimate)
    Cash ISA - £5.5k
    Instant acces - £2k
    Pension - £15.5k
    S&S ISA - £500

    Liabilities
    Mortgage - £106k
    0% credit card - £4k

Started working early after dropping out from College and lived at home for a few years - now staying abroad where I'm not liable to pay any income tax which helps a fair bit.

Although due to currency fluctuations my cash valuation is around £10K higher than it should be (just did a complete spreadsheet, for the first time!):rotfl:

Mid-forties, working F/T. My first year of really getting to grips with savings/investments after paying off a lot of debt, thanks to all the lovely people here.

Salary 60k but should increase with promotion in Spring, so I'll increase cash savings and pension contributions.

    Assets
    House: 320k (Rightmove estimate)
    Pension pots: 60k
ISAs/savings: 2k (need to increase this)

    Total assets 382k

    Liabilities
    Mortgage 160k

    Total liabilities 160k

    Net Assets 222k

  • Age 55, salary 55K so 40% tax bracket.
    mortgage 65K
    cash isas 20K
Final salary pension scheme, 31 years done out of 40 to get 50% of final salary.

Currently overpaying on mortgage to reduce term from 66 to before my 60th birthday, 'normal pension age' in my job, though I'd have to work to 64 to get the half-salary pension., say 27K
    Lump sum 3 x pension, say 81K.

Want to get shot of the mortgage, build up more cash and S&S isas, and increase my pension. Don't want to take risks though!
  • Age 68, married, retired.

    Income:
Approx. £45,000 (2 final salary pensions plus state pensions for self and wife).

    Assets:
    House - Approx £400,000 to £450,000
    Cash ISAs - £130,000
    Cash - £80,000

    Liabilities:
Wife plus 2 circa 30 year old "children" still living at home!

    Interesting thread, but I note the apparent absence in most portfolios of;

    • Gold
    • Bitcoins
    • P2P lending

P2P lending I haven't really looked at, but when I briefly glanced at it the impression I got was that it takes time to get matched, and also is it tends to be in small amounts.

Gold and bitcoin don't attract me because they don't directly produce any income.
