  • Hi
I have been recently diagnosed as having polyps. After years of thinking it was hayfever and wondering why tablets didn't work, I have been put on flixonase which has worked a treat! So I'm actually quite happy to have polyps - at least knowing what the problem is means there's now a solution!
So I too am looking for a cheaper source... the over the couter bottle has less sprays than the prescription one, so it doesn't really work out any cheaper... any ideas?

I have found an email for North Meols, and may email them and ask...

I just found a packet of Telfast in my cupboard left over from last year. GP prescribed them for me saying how wonderful they were and how she uses them herself etc. However when I read the side effects they seemed worse than other anti H. What is the difference betweent the Telfast and the more common Zirtec, Clarityn etc?

As my Doctor once said :- "Side effects aren't a proiblem unless you're having them."
when trying to put me on benzoeydichlorpromazine or something ...

Wondering what Difference the "Di" makes, in Cetirizine (Di)hydrochloride as that's what the cheap Tesco's own brand are called, while Zirtek cites just Cetirizine Hydrochloride. The Pharmacist in Tesco says no difference at all (but then he might say that), while I find their effect only seems to last 3 or 4 hours at most.

Does anyone do a slow release version of the One-a-Days I wonder?

    Thanks,

    Joe

And has anyone heard of 'Member's mark' - loratadine tablets, so should be like Clarityn.
They seem very cheap on eBay, coming from US.
    Any snags?

I am about to purchase some flixonase and I have had a vast price range at boots they will charge 80 pounds and at Morrisons they have qouted me 37 pounds nearly half the price.

Are you sure you don't mean Medinose?
Flixonase is nowhere near this price.
Flixonase is available over the counter.

    Flixonase is cheapest on prescription.
Be careful to compare the same size (60 dose versus 150 dose).
My doctor prescribes the large size so it's cheaper that way.
chemist-4-u are very good value for some things but their Flixonase is the smaller size and whilst cheaper than many shops it's still not as cheap as getting a prescription.

BTW - Flixonase works for me (when al lot of other things failed).

The pharmacist is right the dihydrochloride or hydrochloride is just the salt that the active ingredient (cetirizine) is carried in, it doesn't affect the efficacy of it. It just has one extra chlorine and hydrogen atom!

All the one-a-day antihistamines should work for 24 hours, there aren't slow release versions. If you find they aren't working long enough for you, try something like Benadryl (acrivastine) - in blue packet not orange - which you can take more than once a day.

I bought a medinose off ebay. They are amazing. I used to spend over £150 per year. Now I spend nothing. I made some guy an offer on ebay of £47.98 and he accepted it arrived in a day with insurance. The item number is 220109044787 . Hope this helps.

    Cheers

Sorry I'm bored and browsing. I don't suffer from hayfever but I would take an antihistamene if I suffered a mosquito bite as I tend to react badly. Anyway to the point. I bought a load of the packs of 7 at tescos purely because I didn't have to pay for them thanks to the voucher combinations that gave me more off than I paid when purchasing healthcare on Bogof. Why has nobody mentioned this on this thread I can't believe none of the tesco tarts suffer allergies.

I was about to suggest the same thing! the thread is here http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=414346
and lists pictures of the packs with vouchers in...so you know what you are looking for :)

If you use the 2 £2 off healthcare vouchers (£8 spend - the till recognises buy one get one frees as that you have spent total, although you've only SPENT £4 as other £4 is free...iyswim?? ) from quit pack and get active pack they are free!

I don't have any spare sorry, but they could be found on http://www.paidtoshop.co.uk/forum/index.php
    Blurb from site description
(Paid To Shop is a unique website dedicated to UK Loyalty Schemes discussion forum, including Tesco Clubcard Points,Boots Advantage Points, Airmiles etc)

    or in tesco!

the 'get active' packs seen on tills most places at moment:D . have a £2 off £8 spend on healthcare in them....if you used even this voucher alone it would be half price.
I do have a couple of these get actives i can spare- not sure when bogofs end...possibly 22nd May i believe.

hope this helps and you don't think me a rambling lunatic??...i'm sure the h&b board would understand me?...i hope:o
