Hi all,
That time of year for hayfever and allergy sufferers is approaching and I thought I'd start a thread trying to search for a cheap source of antihistamines such as Zirtek, beadrly,etc...
People on prescriptions I think can get them for £5 a pack (not sure if it's for 7 days or 30). For those who can't get them on prescription or want to try and find them for less, lets see what we can find...
I'll start it off: (these are the 1 a day tablets no the 3 a day type)
Tesco - Zirtek 7's - £2.72 (39p each)
Tesco - Benadryl 7's - £2.98 (43p each)
Tesco - clarityn - 7's - £2.99 (43p each)
Boots - clarityn - 7's - £3.49 (50p each)
Boots - Benadryl plus capsules 24's - £9.89 (41p each)
Any more??? there are some 30 packs out there somewhere...
Simon

I get the Sainsburys equivalent of Benadryl (not the lotradine/clarityn but the other long chemical name ones) at 99p for 7 days - work just as well. The lotradine ones are also this price but I find them less effectiveI think....0

Go see your local chemist
I ended up in A & E on holiday last year for a bee sting and had to pay full price for some antihistamines along with anti biotics.
Went to doctors to continue dose when I got home, went to chemist to fill prescription and the local pharmacist told me I could get exactly the same antihitamines for £1.49 x 28 tablets
Try this on all medicines youll be surprised at how cheap the chemist sells themThanks to everyone who posts comps :T0 -
I buy them from Wilkinsons at 1.49, but they some times have them on 3 for 2.Always on the hunt for a bargain0

Prescription cost is now £6.50! and you get 30 tablets.
I've been buying mine from Tesco. Loretadine 7 for 98p.
I don't notice that in my shopping each week. But I must admit i'm not sure if they are as good as the precribed ones I had last year.0 -
If you have a look at Martins article on medicines presecriptions here you can get something called Loratadine 10mg tablets which is the active ingrediant of clarityn you can apparently pick a generic equilavent of a pack with 7 tablets for 95p might be worth asking the pharmacist for this,

Last year I stocked up from asda
Galpharm non drowsy hayfever and allery relief
Loratadine 7 pack approx £1 <- Claritin equiv
Galpharm hayfever and allergy relief
Cetirizine dihydrochloride 7 pack approx £1 <- Zirtek equiv0 -
For the last 2 years I've been using Tesco's own brand Hayfever tablets(Yellow Packet)
They are "Cetririzine dihydrochloride" Only £2.49 for 30, you have to ask for them at the counter if you want more than 7. I start in April through to Sept. Just as good if not better than the clarytin @ £6.40 that I used to take0 -
great work folks, keep them coming...
I tried my local chemist and I was just about to buy 30 for £2.49 when the lady pointed out that they were the 3 a day type and not the 1 a day type which effectively made it 3 times as expensive and more of a pain to remember to take them...
Thanks
