Another PCN thread - couldn't find relevant advice!

Hi all,
I've searched but cannot find advice based on my current situation.
My wife received a parking charge notice from civil enforcement ltd for parking in the co-op car park for one hour 10 minutes we were actually shopping at the time but cannot find the receipt we do however have Internet banking transactions to say I paid on card, not sure if this is relevant, though as I cannot remember the exact wording of the signage but I am sure I followed it legitimately, I believe it was free parking for customers but the first hour free to all.

On (bad) advice elsewhere we ignored it and today reviews a letter from debt recovery plus ltd for £140.
I've read this chaps are crooks too but because I've left it until the recovery letter what options are open to me to avoid paying this?

Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks!

Most of the threads here apply to your situation and are quite relevant as your position is no different to anyone else. Try reading the CEL threads from only the last six months to see the current advice.
  • Everything I've read refers to appealing the PCN direct and it would appear if it's been sent to debt recovery the option to appeal is no longer available?

    A few questions

Are you the registered keeper? Were you driving? Is this England or Wales ?

    Thanks

Here is one of about twenty five that I can find quickly:

So it seems you either take the risk and now ignore, unless they issue a proper LBA/court papers (fairly unlikely), in which case you mount a proper defence - or that a strong complaint to the shop is in order and if you can demonstrate payment, all the better. :)
  • Stroma,
    It is England.
I'm asking on behalf of my wife who is the keeper and only driver.

    Thanks.

Okay you only have two options, either pay or ignore. Debt Recovery Plus/Zenith Collections will not do anything apart from sending letters and that's it. CEL themselves could try court, but there are defences to their outrageous claims. It's up to you now how you proceed

Then you've either not read enough or not understood. Regardless, follow Storma's advice.

What about (all covered in this sticky thread anyway LBradley1989, under your nose all the time and you do not have to search):

    3. Robustly respond to the debt collector

    4. Complain to the BPA and DVLA as CEL's Notice to Keeper is bound to be non-compliant

    5. Complain to the Co-op as is already covered in depth on another sticky thread at the top.

LBradley1989, did you miss the sticky info threads? The first thing to read on any new forum and they are permanently 'stuck' at the top of the board for a reason.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of any page where it says:
Home»Motoring»Parking Tickets Fines & Parking - read the NEWBIES THREAD
  • Maybe I'm just being thick but I'm still
Struggling to find any advice when the demand has gone to a debt recovery agency.

I could still complain to Co-op but from other threads it seems they won't touch it anyway.

It doesn't include any appeal information on my letter, as the deadline has passed?

So, I can still appeal via BPA even though it states th deadline has passed for appeals?

Sorry to create another thread, I just genuinely couldn't find anything based in that sticky or via searching.

You must be blind! I'm sorry but almost every other thread has advice about debt collectors ! You need to help yourself on this we can't do it all for you as we are limited in numbers and we get hundreds of new threads a week.

Read the sticky threads, the reason they are stuck on top is that people don't have to go searching for info, it explains everything there, and read the last 5 pages of threads, not just ones about CEL but all of them. If you can't find the answer to most of your questions then we can't help you!
