Cars from the 1970s. Can you remember?

Coincidentally the Draper Tools circular has just come out and one of their employees has a website dedicated to the wedges. Have a look at his site and see what the designer wanted the Allegro to look like compared to how the Leyland engineers turned it into a weird pushmi-pullyu effort. www.leylandprincess.co.uk0

The Austin/Morris 1800 (land crab!) Wolseley variant was called the 18/85. I had 2 of them. It use the BMC B series engine.
Some one just round the corner from me has a princess on the drive which hasn't moved for 10 years. There was a tree growing up just behind it!0 -
now if you want to talk about the sit up and beg Anglia, 100e Anglia and Morris Isis then I could well understand how you must feel;)
Morris Isis, one of BMC's poorest selling cars (12,000 approx). A Series 2 or 3 Morris Oxford, with a lengthened bonnet and a BMC 2.6 litre 6 cyl engine. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
I remember being in a pub in the midlands around 1978 and I overheard a conversation between 2 BL workers bragging about sabotaging cars so their supervisor would get in trouble.0

That's the one, big bench seat and steering column change. Blew the big ends going to Blackpool on the M 6 one Friday so did a U turn and went back home. Bought a secondhand BMW commercial engine from local scrap yard for £25 and away I went

The group kept on ploughing away with engines (before the O series) and the ancient C series grew to 2912cc and went in everything from the hulking Wolseley down to the MG. The MGC, sports car with a long, heavy engine sticking out the front, no wonder it couldn't handle.0

Had the B series in my 1964 MGB, great engine but only 3 main bearing Crankshaft, changed to 5 bearing in 1965. Used to change the oil and filter on a regular basis and never had a problem. Always used Duckhams and when it was longer green then I changed the oil, handy as I got the oil free

It didn't really catch on. Can't think why.:p
I drove a new Peugeot 208 recently, and the steering wheel on that was more square than round.0 -
And yet nobody's pointed out yet that it isn't a Fiat 127. Fiat never built five-doors. It must be either a Seat...
I thought there was something wrong about that picture... I've never seen a 5-door 127 (or at least I don't remember seeing one) but it didn't register that it couldn't be a Fiat.
The overlapping bonnet lid was a bit of a giveaway though.0 -
Apparently, the 5 door Seat was badged as a Fiat for some markets.
