10/10 and we had one of those bluebottle-green allegros. 1500cc, tinted windows, square wheel, velour, seats that weren't attached properly in the back so they suddenly detached when we kids were sitting on them in the back. It wasn't that old but one day, on a family trip to see a show it decided the hill was too much for it and spectacularly the engine blew up. Piston rod shot out of the side of the engine, whole road was covered in oil, big old bang and she was dead. They don't make them like that any more... thank goodness!

There's a hearing aid beige Allegro near me still in daily use driven by a not particularly old woman. Mind it's driven so slowly it's about time it went to the scrapyard in the sky.

"Hearing aid beige" - is that what Austin used to call "Sand Glow"
    1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
    2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
    3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?

You know you need to get out more when you notice it should have been Leyland Princess, the later hatchback was the Austin Ambassador.

And yet nobody's pointed out yet that it isn't a Fiat 127. Fiat never built five-doors. It must be either a Seat...

Yes they did! We had a LHD 5 door and later a diesel estate when living in Germany many moons ago. They were both over 10 years old, gave good service and bought for next to nothing.
But I don't think they were available in the UK.
  • 9/10 - didn't get the Beemer M1.
