Thanks for that, just hope its easy to fit.

you will need patience to do this as i nearly lost it when i changed a ribbon in an old e800. i'm not too sure if samsung have improved the connectors on newer models

here are some instructions i found

    1. Push up the slider and pop out the 2 rubber stoppers and remove the 2 small screws.

    2. From the back of the phone (battery side) remove the 4 screws holding the back case on. Remove the back housing.

    3. Now you have the main board PCB exposed. Remove the 2 small screws holding the PCB down.

    4. Carefully pull the PCB forward (you should have a bit of anti-static tape holding the bottom side down) and now you should see 5 phillips head screws and a small piece of black tap that is hiding another one so remove it(these hold the slider in place)

    5. Carefully remove the ribbon that is connected to the PCB (there is a bit of tape holding it in position)

    6. Take out the 6 phillips screws under the PCB holding the slider (You need a very fine tip phillips screw driver as they strip very easily and are quite tight at first)

    7. Pull the back piece away from the front and under the slider there are now 4 small screws (2 on either side) holding the front facia on... remove them and pry the front facia from the screen.

    8. Thats it... Note there are 4 ribbons connected to the back of the LCD that are covered with a piece of tape... carefully peel it off in one piece and you can remove them the usual way. and there are 2 pieces of tape holding the main ribbon down as well. oh and also the main ribbon and the camera ribbon are stuck down to the LCD housing. You need to carefull pull them once you open the catch.

not under any warranty, is it likely to be the ribbon or the full screen ? are they easy enough to replace? likely cost?
    TIA

You could try taking it back to the shop you bought it from (aslong as you didn't damage it youself) and ask them to fix/replace it citing the Sale of Goods Act.

I think my post is the most important post here:

    1) be very very careful, DO NOT touch any chips/metal connections etc if possible.

    2) ALLWAYS ALLWAYS ground yourself before doing anything!!!! Touch a metal object - the sink tap or copper pipes are the best. Or even better make a habit of touching them every 5 mins - try not to wear a jumper, a t-shirt should be perfect!

    3) And what ever you do NEVER place the phone or any components on the floor!!! No matter how comforable it may be! Use your desk or any other HARD surface.

    And good luck!!!
