  • I'd agree with this- I absolutely love Orlando (third trip next year) and I don't have any children. There is SO much more to it than kids (I'm a wealth of knowledge OP if you need any help planning!). In relation to the prize, if the t's and c's didn't state 2 adults, 2 kids, who on earth are they to determine what a 'family' is? Me, my partner and our pet hamster are a family in my eyes. I would fight this OP and I hope you get to take it.

I'm a bit of an orlando Junkie myself (see sig!!)...hope it works out for you if u need any help pm me...we are moving to live there in Jan!

Oh oh, I hope we're not all there at the same time. That many MSE's in Orlando at once may throw off the universe

My SO and I are in Disney next year as well (no kids + Orlando in September = Heaven!)

If they are allowed to say 2 adults can't be a family, would that mean that adults with kids can't win a couple's holiday? It's all so silly :wall:

I emailed Edwin just to ask his opinion on it, and he's just emailed back with this (very impressed he replied late in the evening!)

"On the evidence you have supplied to me, I would say that you are right in surmising that the prize is not a family holiday. The Ts & Cs make it quite clear that it is not."

He goes on to say to wait a fortnight to hear back from their legal team, and if no luck he'll get in touch with them himself.

Glad he's on my side :T

My only worry with waiting to get it sorted is that I think they might just offer it to someone else...what would happen if they did? Would the IPM be able to make them pay out for two holidays??
  • Hi,

I entered this comp yesterday and i specifically checked to see if there was any mention of it being a "family comp" (specifically 2 adults and 2 children.)

That's the only reason i entered - because there was no mention of these things. I also remember being annoyed at the lack of terms and conditions in terms of dates e.t.c

    Do keep us updated!

I did exactly this myself! If it specifically states family (ie; 2 adults and 2 children) I don't enter it. Otherwise it's fair game IMHO.

EDIT: And you know what really bugs me (even though I'm yet to have children), when they stop being children at age 12 in comps... I mean they're not adults at that age, so why aren't they children!? Grrgh!
Back to comping after a 3-year hiatus :j

I've come across SO many holiday competitions in the time I've been comping, where the T&Cs very specifically state that it's for two adults and two children - this is normally the reason I don't enter them, as I have three kids - so if the Times are trying to deny you this prize on the grounds that it's only for a family, then they're on very shaky ground I think - not one single mention in the T&Cs about how many the holiday was for, what it included, blackout dates etc etc. All very vague and I honestly don't think they can legally deny you it now.

I had something similar with a hotel stay I won it was a family stay apparently but no mention on their terms and conditions so sadly my children were unwell on the day of the trip ;);)

No, the IPM cannot actually make them do anything although many companies do take their advice on board.
