Not sure if wrongly charged VAT

Just been to MAC Cosmetics shop as they had a special student night offering 35% off.
I bought £207 of products (sounds a lot but only bought about 16 items) as am desperate to build up my kit.
Anyway it says total is 207.50
discount 35% -64.22 (thats not right it should be £72.45)
and then sub total £143.28.
At the bottom it says
Vat (4) 20.00% £23.84
Total w/o VAT £119.44
Now on the MAC website the items are the exact same price. On the website it says 5. Prices
All prices indicated for products available via the Site are inclusive of VAT (where applicable) at the current rates and are exclusive of delivery charges. The total cost of your order is the price of the products ordered and delivery charges as set out in the Delivery section of the Site . So just wondering why i've been charged vat.
I was going to work overtime and then get my friend (who has the pro card) to buy me £500 worth of makeup at xmas. However the discount would only be £175 and then £100 for tax. Seems alot.
Am not clued up about Vat tbh must places already have that price added in. Never heard of MAC doing vat ontop of products either.

The VAT is correct I'd be more concerned about the incorrect discount.
You bought £207.50 worth of products (including VAT)
You got 35% off (£72.62)
You should have paid £134.88 in total (including VAT)
You actually paid £143.28 (including VAT)
The problem is the discount was inaccurate. It was only 30.95%
Every purchase you make includes 20% VAT (unless you are a charity or business)
There are a few exceptions but make-up isn't one of them.Hi. I'm a Board Guide on the Gaming, Consumer Rights, Ebay and Praise/Vent boards. Ah ok I thought that there items included VAT though in the price. So really a £10 eyeshadow is £12 with vat on it. Am going to ring up tomorrow. I think they have added the VAT price ontop of the price of products.0

No, if something is £12 that means it already includes the £2 VAT.
Just like it already includes the £3 labour, £2 petrol, £1 packaging and £4 profit.
Can you clarify exactly how much you bought the items for and how much you were expecting to pay? To me it doesn't seem like they've added VAT on to the advertised price but it's hard to tell from what you've said.
Could you take a picture of the receipt?Hi. I'm a Board Guide on the Gaming, Consumer Rights, Ebay and Praise/Vent boards. The items I bought for example- Eyeshadow Refill Pan £10 is the same price as on the website. It says on the website that all prices are inclusive of VAT.
I just think the girl has done the discount wrong.
For example my recipt says the total w/o vat is £119.44
The says VAT 20%- £23.84
But thats clearly because the girl has done the 35% wrong. I spent £207.50 and got 35% off.
Tried to ring the store and they been engaged all day. I wasn't impressed on there customer service at all. Didn't help me at all, my mum came with me (we where having a meal) and she had to ask about 3 people to help us before one person did.
EDIT: Found it what the problem was. I bought a limited edition product and they can't be discounted in any way. Wasn't told this by person selling it me so rather poor customer service.0
