I have been accepted and have today received the clicker and pack etc. Can any ShopandScan members please clarify a couple of points for me, as the handbook doesn't really provide the answer.

    1) Do you scan literary everything you purchase i.e. a Newspaper or a pack of cigarettes

    2) Do you carry the clicker with you and scan that mars bar you just brought from the corner shop, if so how does this work in relation to having to scan the 'Purchaser Barcode' or do you keep all wrappers etc, take them home and scan there?

    Many thanks

    Hi Paul,

    Welcome on board!

You are supposed to scan everything you buy as the program is all about finding out the purchasing habits of consumers. No need to have the clicker on you all the time as it will mean that you'd have to also carry the book with barcodes for shops and how much you spent!

For out-of-home snack purchases, they have a panel called Food On The Go where you text barcodes such as your Mars bar which you get additional points for. This particular panel is invite only and I was invited a few months after I started scanning stuff.

In summary, keep all the packaging and scan them when you get home. When and if you are finally invited to join Food On The Go, you can just text them your out-of-home snack purchases instead of scanning them. More info here: http://www.shopandscan.com/foodonthego/

Many thanks for clarifying my points. I guess its about trying to remember to keep receipts. One thing l did notice in relation to scanning and sending receipts, you have to scan each individual receipt, l was hoping you could scan multiple receipts on the one page, so it looks like scanning may take a while during some weeks.

    Thanks again
