Easiest way to see if the taps are leaking providing they aren't mixer taps is to place a balloon on each tap - secure with sellotape so they don't come off. If the tap / s leak then the balloon / will fill up accordingly.
You may click thanks if you found my advice useful
  • one more thing you can look for i had this on a bathroom sink were the tap was not dripping but running back on itself

Are you sure your cats aren't just taking baths each night? I'd suggest you put one of those water detecting strips around its collar to check.

This is a weird one! (and sorry if this is the wrong place to put this!)

We fill our bath up with a low level of water as one of our cats has a habit of running around the bath at night (we have two cats but need to keep them separate at the moment as we're introducing them to one another.)

However, the next day the water level has significantly risen! Neither my husband or I have filled the bath up anymore. I've checked to make sure that both the taps aren't dripping (they're not), made sure the shower over the bath isn't dripping (it's not) so I have no idea where this excess water is coming from.

Our water bill has just risen by £13 a month and I'm starting to wonder if this has something to do with it.

It's an odd problem, especially where there aren't any drips from anyway. I've googled the problem but nothing much is coming up!

    Does anyone have any ideas?

    Thank you. :o

Ok, I'll come back to this, the blue bit rules out what most have said, ie, leaky taps etc.

So no water from the taps or shower head, the OP is definite, so where does it come from?

Back pressure from the waste pushing up the overflow?
Doubt it very much, it would need activity overnight and a blocked main waste, ie, there would be more serious problems, and the water would not be clear.
I just got the fact that Morticia leaves water in the bath to deter the cats from scratching it up?
Sorry but with the plug in, shut off taps, closed shower, I simply can't see any other fill points other than I have said and joked about.;);)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

I can see how people might think I'm a troll! If someone else had asked the same question, I might think they were too!

I'm not, however. :( I'm just a woman driven insane by this stupid water problem and not knowing where the excess water has come from!

Are you sure that your OH isn't doing it just to freak you out.

It's the type of prank I'd play.
