I am a FTB and I am guessing sparx is as well
There has been multiple praise from different people.
Ok back to OP :money:0 -
It's not clear cut that Redrow build superior homes. In fact, some internet reviews from 2007, 2008 and 2011 suggest more qwality than quality.
Buy a period house instead.0 -

Yep FTB and the I'm the Director of Redrow.
I didn't know people were not allowed to post something positive about a company they have had good experiences with (so far).
I know in the UK we are all moaning ***** and love to post everything that is negative, but cheer up gazzabboi.0 -
I have never said Redrow made better quality homes.
It appears they provide homes with more appliances as standard which is a positive. I think it's important to keep this on topic for the OP sake.
With regards to your "buy a period property" comment, that makes no sense? I was not after a period property hence why I bought a new build.
Strange how people take offence when nothing has been directed at them......0 -
I've seen the trade prices of items on new builds. You wouldn't believe that a full kitchen can cost as little as £500. Everything is marked up, that's the nature of the game... Make money. There will always be cheaper alternatives, just depends on whether you want the convenience of everything being sorted on the day you take the keys, or whether your prepared to shop around.
Shopping around may save you money, but weigh that up against the cost and time of sourcing what you want, buying it, getting labour, and coordinating it all.
I think that comes down to personal preferences.
And in regard to the guarantee most appliances come with guarantees these days (John Lewis min 2years on eletrical products).
From my experience, my new property built by bellway came with everything integrated as standard. An opinion is just that..... An opinion0 -
I'm buying a Miller home and as they are 'flying off the shelves' at the moment there are no incentives. The info on how quickly they are selling came from a 3rd party who has no reason to lie. The bottom line is, if they're selling them before they're built they won't offer any incentives. If they are offering incentives they've probably already added the incentives on to the cost of the property anyway. Question is, is it any cheaper to buy your own appliances, then purchase cabinet doors, and, if you can't do it yourself, the cost of the joiner to fit the doors. You may save a little, you may not, but unless your steeped in builder contacts and handy yourself........what a hassle. Think I'll just have to get builder to install and forever wonder if I could've saved a worthwhile amount, unless there is a blogger with THE answer.0

Buy a period house instead.
Which period?0 -
Had the same issue when we were still in the running to buy a Barratt house. The markups you mentioned aren't too bad to some of the ones we had. The markup for towel rails in the bathrooms was around the 250% mark and integrated appliances were mostly just short of double the retail price.0

I don't like integrated appliances. If I bought a new house I hope I could get a discount for not having them (obviously depending on building stage)0
