We are buying a redrow house and they give us all electric appliances for free.we can even choose inbetween biult in double oven or microwave and oven.....all AEG:-)
Also the houses they build are very high standard and there is not much to upgrade. The upgrades are normal highstreet prices, not rip off.
The only upgrades you can do are putting in build in wardrobes to room 3 and 4, additional full height wall tiles and ultra fashion wash basin

if electrical appliances are included as standard, they are not free, you are paying for them

The taylor wimpy site i am buying on said they are happy to supply doors for integrated appliances if we want to buy our own white goods and we have all the details and broucher for the kitchen supplier, so we can order them direct if we prefer

    Nothing is free
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
  • I got all my integrated appliances included as part of the sale. Could it be worth chatting to your site manager if you have been able to meet them yet? Seems a bit mean for them not to just include the casings...i know it's not exactly pocket change but might it be quite a faff to get your own appliances plumbed in and fitted? With Barratts won't they all be covered by their 5 year warranty too (which is probably longer than the manufacturers).

When I had my kitchen extension done I already had free-standing machines (dishwasher, tumble dryer and washer). I looked at the cost of integrated units, but then decided that I would keep my own units and have doors built to go in front of these units. Kitchen looks great, and I know that I can buy free-standing units in the future without having to go to the extra expense of finding integrated units that may or may not go in the space.

    Hello,

I am currently purchasing a house from Barratts and asked for a quote for integrated appliances. The integrated appliances are very expensive more than double what it would be to buy them from high street retailers. I have written to Barratts saying ok can you just install the housing units for the appliances in the kitchen and I will buy my own appliances. They have responded no due to design of the kitchen which I think is not a real reason for not installing empty housing units for integrated appliances. Does anyone else have experience of this because I feel like I am being forced by them to pay their prices which are uncompetitive but surely I am still as part of my purchase price entitled to the units without the appliances contained and at no extra cost? Any words of wisdom appreciated.

The developer is simply trying to recoup some of the incentives they had to give you. I don't blame them - it's business.

Our white goods were also included when we bought the house. We got them to put in an upgraded washer/dryer as well, FOC.

Only problem with integrated appliances is you can't really take them with you when you move...
  • Are they not desperate for your business ?

I have to disagree with a lot of these comments (waits for abuse :D)

If Redrow hadn't provided the Cooker/microwave/ fridge freezer as standard it wouldn't have reduced the value by £5K would it? If you look at a property that has a cooker left behind, does that increase the price? No.

I agree there is a new build "premium" but as people have stated, not all developers include turf let alone a fridge! :)

So are they free or standard? :D

    Free as standard. :D

They are "standard" in Redrow's eyes because they have high standards compared to other builders. So to people not used to Redrow's standards they are "free".. ;)

The reason I say "free as standard" is because they seem (in my and a fair few friends & families opinion) to build much better quality and character homes compared to other builders for less money or equal to others.

Essentially you get much more for your money with Redrow. :)
