I got a few good idea's from the Victorian farm series. :-) I had my husband make me a drying rack hung from the ceiling over the woodburner. It can be lowered by a simple pully system. It works great! Haven't used the tumble dryer since!
Ruth generally has some smashing tips on cooking and cleaning old style.
And as for the lads... well... it's no hardship watching them.. and I'm always in for some historical information. :rotfl:0 -

Eh? There's plenty of food. Gwallia Tea Rooms, Vale Restaurant and Cafe Bardi. There's also the bakery. Got some lovely bara brith still hot from the oven last time I went.
I love St. Fagans.0 -
Going to lower the tone - Peter Ginn's codpiece:drool:I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -

I saw the bakery and went in.... but I'm afraid the sight of the wasps landing on everything put me off buying anything to eat.
Pub across the road is nice though, but pricey (read the menu).0 -

Thoroughly MS & seriously OS MS - if you like rushlights.
We do & while our method is less telegenic, it is a bit more authentic and because we can make the time for straining the mix, it doesn't smell when burning.
We regard it as fun for all the family - Gilbert White in his Natural History of Selborne documents everyone involved - even "decayed labourers"!0
