I have 2 Louis Vuittons... Although I didn't buy them. Both were gifts but I love them dearly. For me it is that you don't see many of them (real ones anyway) so it makes them more unique.0

knowing that your bag is worth £800 quid and you cant drop a drink down itcredit card bill. £0.00
overdraft £0.00
Help from the state £0.000 -
You see I don't 'get handbags' I lust over shoes, boots, clothes coats but never bags.
Its often struck me as strange, I do appreciate a good bag and can see why people love them, but they do nothing for me.I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0 -
I would love a designer bag - My DH offered to buy me one recently that I loved but refused - the price was over £300 and I'd be terrified of damaging it! I'll stick to second hand bags0

There's that many knock offs nowadays, that a lot of people (myself included) just assume that they are fake anyhow....and tbh, a lot of them are!0

I have a few Zatchels bags that are around £150 each, they are probably the most expensive bags I own and I am reluctant to use them as I don't want to damage them so they spend most of their time in dust bags!
If I had something like a Chanel/LV/Prada bag, I would probably not dare use it! So most of my bags are under £100 each, still nice quality but I am not going to worry about them getting dirty or damaged!0 -
I have a collection of designer handbags. My weakness is Mulberry!
They are all covered under my home insurance in case anything happens to them.
Yes they were expensive but the quality is outstanding.
A friend asked me to go shopping with her recently for a handbag for her, budget £100. I thought it would be easy to find a nice one, nope, the leather was crap, the stitching was awful. We really, really struggled!
I think I'm spoiled by my nice bags and because I can see the quality really struggle to pay out money for inferior goods.
For less than £200 you can get a second hand Mulberry, always get them authenticated obviously because there are a lot of fakes about, I can usually spot them a mile off.The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
Unless the woman is walking along Bond Street, I tend to assume that the designer handbag is a fake.
Husband could afford to buy me designer handbags in the hundreds ranges not thousands but why buy something designer that 99.9% of people will assume to be a fake ? Why buy something bling that screams no taste whatsoever and a slavish following for fashion ??
I do have some vintage designer bags because I reckon it's easier to fake new bags so why would anyone bother..and I never eBay. They are all discreet not recognisable at 100 paces - Coach, The Bridge, Gucci, Mulberry, Fendi, Franchetti Bond, Longchamps - I just wouldn't buy them if they were.
I'd buy high street but often I see things I like and they aren't leather and when they are, buying vintage designer saves me money.
My favourite bag was a Barbour canvas and leather fishing bag. I bought it myself for secondary school, it travelled with me to school in Canada, to college and uni and in total lasted 26 years before disintegrating this year after being used to cart books and shopping and stuff for the beach.0 -
Well the Bond Street assumption is weird! I'm in Edinburgh and see plenty of genuine bags.
Who said just because they are designer they have to be bling? What an odd statement, you're obviously looking at the wrong designers.
Anyone who knows designer bags will probably recognise your vintage bags, I love vintage, often prefer them to newer designs. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
First and foremost, find something you like.
Then if you can afford it and want it, buy it.
The label doesn't matter - buy what rings your bell not what you think others will find impressive or valuable - we are all different.:hello:0
