Broadband... but without a tie-in

Hi all

We are currently with Sky for TV and broadband until December this year. However, we want to get rid of the TV and possibly change broadband provider. However, our house is currently for sale and we are hoping to move next year to rented acommodation so I'm looking for any recommendation for a rolling contract kind of broadband if any exist out there?

:o

Thanks
Vanessa

Won't your Sky broadband be on a rolling contract, once your minimum period is up ?

Just don't take any Sky offers between now and when you move and you'll be able to cancel with 30 days notice.

Or do you mean you want a rolling contract at the rented place?

    Thanks for the quick responses!

As we want to "drop" the Sky TV they say we have to sign a new contract which ties us in for 12 months.

I'd check that with someone else, as the tv and broadband contracts are separate, though having tv gives you a discount on the broadband (in the form of being charged more, if you don't have tv).

My tv contract runs from October 17th,whereas the broadband and phone run from October 22nd ; ie based on installation date, even though I agreed to them on the same date.

Mine were separate contracts, but I had the TV about 6 months before I took the TV.

If it was bought as one of their bundles it all comes under the same minimum term.

Mine is a bundle, but as the tv was installed a few days earlier, I was told that its minimum term runs from that date, but the other items' from the following week, so, should I wish to cancel tv, in a year's time, notice must be given 31 days before the tv date and likewise for the other items.

I'm assuming that the OP is out of minimum term, so should be able to cancel just the tv, without a new 12 month commitment for bb.

How long ago did you get Sky?

I believe that if TV, Phone and BB is sold together they all share the same min term.

There must be a reason why Sky are saying it's a new 12m term, I generally found them to be quite honest for the 5 years I used them.

Unless the OP spoke to a misguided advisor. Probably best to call them back OP and speak to another advisor, see if you get a different answer.

That's why I suggested calling again.

All contracts are separate.... if you were able to look at what the advisors see the three products show separately each with a separate contract date. Definitely call again -choose the cancellations option and then ask them to call you back before discussing the issue as you don't have Sky talk (so free calls to them) yet.
