Virgin have announced they are upgrading their network to support up to 152mb broadband speeds ; with those on the top package being upgraded for free.
Not all good news though, as their is a prospective price rise too, of up to 6.2%..... not really a free upgrade then eh!

Dreading to see what my bill will increase by ; I pay enough as it is

Well, I'm up for it! ... and the price rise (if true?) will happen anyway whether you sign up for it or not as far as I can tell! ... nothing to do with the upgrade.
Where you somehow expecting VM's prices to go down?0 -
I can't wait for another price rise - last time round a few months back I phoned in to complain and got a substantial reduction on what I was paying before the rise. VM prices are what you negotiate not what they publish - unless you are daft enough to just pay what they ask for.0

"While the speed increases will likely be welcomed by customers, the average price increase of 6.7 percent across Virgin Media’s broadband, phone (fixed-line, but not mobile) and TV packages is unlikely to please many people. Customers will start to see increases in their bills from February, around the same time the speed boosts will be introduced, Virgin Media said."

Not sure what the price rise will be, but I'm set for a 66% speed increase, so that'll soften the blow

It won't be anything if you take the trouble to phone up and complain about the above inflation price rise because they'll probably give you a discount instead.0

I was under the impression that for BB the price increase was the middle of last year but that the tv and phone was to be in Feb ... So if you have only BB you will not see a difference in your bill in Feb ?0
-
I have broadband only and have received a letter saying its going up - doesn't say by how much though.0
-
Just had my email with a letter to follow I suppose. I'm currently paying £22.50 for 60Mbps BB and the increase is £2.25 taking it to £24.75. Overall the price isn't bad but it's an extra 10% and comes only a couple of months since I had to negotiate out the last price hike.
As my area suffers moderate congestion and is usually last in line for any speed increases I think it's time to give them a call. I'm sorely tempted to dump them whatever they offer as having to phone up every few weeks to negotiate pricing is getting to be a bit of a drag.0 -
I entered a new contract for my Virgin BB in either October or November. Would this price increase affect me?0
-
Probably. I agreed a new price at the end of October but they decided to try and add 10% to that.0
