A lot of landlords don't get the boiler serviced annually - they have no legal obligation to do so, just to get a gas safety inspection done every year. The fact that they can pass a gas safety inspection without having a service done indicates that there is nothing inherently unsafe in not having a boiler serviced annually.

I dont care what legslation you refer to , leaking boilers kill , simple , anyone who doesnt get their boiler serviced , is careless with their familys health

I consider having a working CO Alarm placed close to the boiler more important than giving BG £20/25 a month for an annual service.

Everyone makes decisions on how they operate their lives and what level of risk they are willing to expose themselves and their families to. This includes road safety training, how to cook safely, and dare I say it decisions around gas safety. We're all grown ups, we make our choices.

Unless it's materially affects anyone else, I have no wish to pass judgement on how anyone else runs their lives.

(And I do have mine serviced, and have a CO detector. My choice, end of)
So many glitches, so little time...

My point isn't about the legislation... it's about the fact that a boiler can pass a gas safety inspection without being serviced.

One could of course argue that everyone, not just landlords, should have a gas safety inspection done annually, which IMO would not be a bad idea.
